Chandigarh University (CU), Gharuan, has yet again shined in QS World University Rankings by Subjects-2024 by securing top spots in as many as eight subjects, reaffirming its global reputation for excellence.
Among the private universities, Chandigarh University secured top rank in India in three subjects - Hospitality Management, Petroleum Engineering, Social Sciences &amp; Management.
Chandigarh University also figured among world's top 100 universities in two subjects -- Hospitality Management and Petroleum Engineering -- in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024.
Having debuted in the World Subject Rankings 2023 with rank in five subjects, Chandigarh University has now secured top rankings in eight disciplines in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024.
These eight subjects include Business and Management Studies, Engineering and Technology, Computer Science and Information Systems, Hospitality and Leisure Management, Mechanical Engineering, Social Sciences and Management, Petroleum Engineering, and Electrical &amp; Electronics Engineering.

A third-year student of Shiv Nadar University in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida shot dead a female classmate inside the campus on Thursday.&nbsp;
As per India Today, the student identified as Anuj Singh killed his classmate inside the dining hall of the university. He later shot himself dead in the boys' hostel.&nbsp;
The victim and the accused were both pursuing BA in Sociology at the university.&nbsp;

"Besides, two more institutes namely Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad, Lucknow, and Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) at Qutub Enclave in New Delhi are also found functioning in violation of the UGC Act, 1956. The matters of Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad, Lucknow and IIPM, New Delhi are sub-judice in the court," he added.Delhi has seven such fake universities - Commercial University Ltd, United Nations University, Vocational University, ADR Centric Juridicial University, Indian Institution of Science and Engineering, Vishwakarma Open University for Self Employment and Adhyatmik Vishwavidyalaya (Spiritual University).

"It is expected that all school boards will declare their results for class 12 exams by July 31. If there is any delay in declaration of the result of qualifying exams, the new academic session may begin by October 18," the UGC said in the new guidelines.
The commission has clarified that the teaching-learning process must continue in offline, online or blended mode.
"The institutions may plan for classes, breaks, conduct of examinations, semester break etc. during October 1 to July 31, following necessary protocols and advisories issued by central and state governments from time to time in view of COVID-19 pandemic," the guidelines said.
In view of the financial hardships faced by parents during the pandemic, the commission has asked varsities and HEIs to ensure fee is fully refunded in cases of cancellation of admission or migration of students.
It has also been made mandatory for universities and colleges to conduct final year or end term exams by August 31. The exams can be conducted in either offline, online or in blended mode.&nbsp;
