The head of India&rsquo;s pandemic task force has again warned that the second wave of Covid-19 is not over yet, and that cases can explode if people continue to behave recklessly.
Dr V K Paul pointed to reports and pictures of blatant violations of social distancing norms coming from tourist spots and said the virus could once again take the &ldquo;upper hand&rdquo; if the current situation did not change.
Responding to a question on above 40,000 the daily new cases still being reported, he said India needed to achieve a &ldquo;baseline&rdquo; of 10,000 cases for at least three consecutive weeks before it could be said that the situation was under control

The head of India&rsquo;s Covid-19 task force, VK Paul on Thursday while releasing a statement on &ldquo;myths and facts on India&rsquo;s vaccination progress&rdquo; said that as soon as Pfizer indicated availability, the central government and the US pharma major started working together for the earliest possible import of the vaccine.
Pfizer, which is ready to offer 5 crore doses to India between July and October this year, has resportedly sought certain relaxations from the government including indemnification.
Paul pointed out that vaccines are in limited supply globally, and companies have their own priorities, game-plans and compulsions in allocating finite stocks as he dismissed the notion that the government isn&rsquo;t doing enough to purchase vaccines from abroad.
