<p>Filmmaker Laxman Utekar announced on Monday that the "lezim" dance scene from his upcoming movie Chhaava, based on the life of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be removed following objections raised by politicians and history enthusiasts.</p>
<p>The decision came after Utekar met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray at his residence in Mumbai to discuss the issue.</p>
<p>The trailer of the film, released earlier this week, included a sequence where actors Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, portraying Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Maharani Yesubai, are seen dancing with the "lezim," a traditional musical instrument tied to Maharashtra's cultural heritage.</p>
<p>Speaking to reporters, Utekar stated, "The meeting with Raj Thackeray was to seek his advice. His knowledge of history, especially regarding Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is extensive. He provided valuable suggestions for changes, which we will implement. As for the scene featuring Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj playing 'lezim,' we will delete it. It was not our intention to hurt anyone's sentiments."</p>
<p>The scene drew sharp criticism on social media, with some politicians accusing the filmmakers of disrespecting the historical figure.</p>
<p>Utekar explained, "We are removing the scene because it is not a significant part of the film. If people feel that the portrayal is inaccurate, we are willing to make this change. Our goal has always been to honour and showcase the greatness of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj to the world."</p>
<p>He further emphasized the meticulous research behind the film, saying, "This film is a result of four years of research by our team. The aim is to educate the world about the contributions of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj as a great warrior and king. If any part of the film tarnishes this vision, we have no hesitation in addressing it."</p>
<p>Maharashtra Minister and Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant, who had earlier called for the removal of the controversial scenes, welcomed the director's decision, expressing hope that this resolution would settle the matter.</p>

In an interview with Tanmay Bhat for his YouTube channel, Vicky recalled a close encounter where he almost got beaten up by a sand mafia and their 500 goons while filming illegal sand mining.</p>
<p>&lsquo;The coal smuggling that was shown in the film was real. We shot it. One incident happened when we went to capture visuals of illegal sand mining. I was baffled because that was the first time I realised that this happens so openly that you wouldn&rsquo;t feel that this is actual smuggling going on; you would feel that it is a properly run business because there weren&rsquo;t just two trucks standing there, there were 500 trucks,&rsquo; recalled Vicky.</p>
<p>He said, &lsquo;The camera attendant was an old man, some 50 plus. That guy called the unit saying that the camera wouldn&rsquo;t come on time because we were caught up in a situation here. Hearing him talk over the phone, the person there thought that he was calling somebody influential. That man slapped the cameraman, snatched the camera from him, and threatened us that they would break the camera. We both were about to get beaten up, but we somehow escaped.&rsquo;</p>

<p>Actor Vicky Kaushal visited a theatre in Mumbai on Sunday evening to see the audience's reaction to his latest release 'Sam Bahadur'.</p>
<p>The audience lauded the actor for his stellar performance and a few even stated that Vicky Kaushal is bound to clinch the National Award.</p>
<p>Thanking the audience, Vicky shared that the movie aimed to give a tribute to a very special man in the Indian Army.</p>
<p>He told the fans, &lsquo;Aap sab ka pyaar dekh ke I am just more than okay. Mai aapko bata nahi sakta ki&hellip; kisi bhi artist ke liye the most beautiful sight is a housefull show (I am unable to express my happiness to see the love and response to my film). Thank you for taking your time out. It really means a lot to me.&rsquo;</p>
<p>&lsquo;Sam Bahadur&rsquo; stars Vicky Kaushal as the first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in the biopic. Meghna Gulzar, who previously worked with the actor on &lsquo;Raazi&rsquo;, has directed the movie.</p>
<p>&lsquo;Sam Bahadur&rsquo; highlights the life and work of Sam Manekshaw. Sanya Malhotra plays his wife. Actor Fatima Sana Shaikh is also a part of the film as she appears as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.</p>

<p>The film marked an overall occupancy of about 56.33% for its Hindi version on day 3, as per the portal.</p>
<p>The film recorded a business of ₹6.26 crore on its opening day and improved on the weekend. Currently, the film&rsquo;s total earning is ₹25.55 crore.</p>
