The International Academy of Television Arts &amp; Sciences has named comedian and Bollywood star Vir Das as the host of the 2024 International Emmy Awards. The event will be held on November 25 in New York City.
This will be Das&rsquo;s return to the International Emmys after his notable win last year for his Netflix comedy special &lsquo;Landing&rsquo;. He was also nominated in the Comedy category in 2021 and is known for his unique humour and global appeal.

Paisner, President &amp; CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts &amp; Sciences, expressed excitement about Das&rsquo;s return, and said, &lsquo;We&rsquo;re delighted to welcome back Vir Das to our stage and to add International Emmy&reg; Host to his impressive list of talents. Das, currently on his international Mind Fool tour, has built a versatile career. He has created, produced, and starred in various series, including the ABC spy drama-comedy Whiskey Cavalier, the Netflix thriller &lsquo;Hasmokh&rsquo;, and the Amazon travel show &lsquo;Jestination Unknown&rsquo;.
He also appeared in Judd Apatow&rsquo;s Netflix film &lsquo;The Bubble&rsquo; and is developing a single-camera comedy with CBS Studios and Andy Samberg. Additionally, he leads India&rsquo;s comedy-rock band Alien Chutney.
In 2023, Das made history by winning an International Emmy for Comedy for his Netflix special &lsquo;Vir Das: Landing&rsquo;. This win, shared with &lsquo;Derry Girls Season 3&rsquo;, marked a significant achievement for Indian comedy.

Actor-comedian Vir Das is baffled over an order of bananas he called for in America. Das had ordered two bananas as a post-workout snack but instead of receiving the fruits au naturel, he got a peeled, sliced, stacked and packaged version.&nbsp;
Sharing a video on social media, Das said he 'justed wanted bananas for lunch,' not its packaged version. In the video, he lists why serving or selling bananas like that is pointless.
Vir Das goes on to elaborate that entire process involves use of extra people who would have had to cut and package the fruit. He also pointed out that the use of plastic adds to the pollution. The comedian also rued the fact that one would need cutlery to eat the sliced bananas.
Vir Das adds he is amazed as to why somebody would feel the need to package something that has already been packaged by God. His parting shot was that only in American do people think they can do better than God.&nbsp;

TMC MP Derek O'Brien has invited stand-up comedian Vir Das to Kolkata, a day after his show in Bengaluru was cancelled at the last minute following protests by Hindu right-wing groups.
"Hello @thevirdas Come to #Kolkata. We would love to have you here this winter. DM me please. Let's get this going," the TMC's leader of the House in Rajya Sabha said in a tweet.
The protesting groups alleged that the show, scheduled to be held on Thursday, would hurt Hindu religious sentiments.
Das later uploaded a video on Twitter to deter any assumptions made on his content. In the video Das can be seen asking his audience if anything he said during the show defamed India or hurt any sentiment. The crowd is seen answering in the negative.
"I made this video after one of my shows, Just in Case. I have no interest in media spectacles or being used for headlines. I'm an artist. I shouldn't be on the news. Many assumptions are made about my content. I trust my art and my audience to speak for me. #TrustTheAudience," Das tweeted.
Das' monologue "I come from two Indias" had stirred a row a year ago when he was criticised for allegedly defaming the country.
Referred to as India's Silicon Valley, Bengaluru is home to people from across the country, especially those in the Information Technology sector.
Over the last few years, several shows by stand-up comedians in the city were cancelled.
Two shows of Munawar Faruqui were cancelled in November 2021 and August this year. In December 2021, multiple shows of Kunal Kamra were cancelled following "threats to close down the venue".

The Cuffe Parade police filed a first information report (FIR) against him, two other persons, and the online streaming platform Netflix on charges of copyright rules violation following a complaint by a producer.&nbsp; &nbsp; In his complaint, Ashvin Gidwani, the renowned theatre producer, alleged that 12 jokes from the show were copied from the script of an earlier show produced by him and performed by Das in 2010.&nbsp; &nbsp; According to the official from Cuffe Parade police station, Gidwani mentioned that when he viewed a promo of a new show of Vir Das on Netflix in January 2020, he realised that some content had allegedly been copied from the previous show with a few changes.&nbsp; &nbsp; A case was filed against Das, two other persons, and Netflix service under relevant provisions of the Copyright Act on November 4, PTI quoted the official as saying.&nbsp; &nbsp; An investigation is underway and no arrest has been made so far.&nbsp; &nbsp; According to PTI, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, a right-wing group approached the Bengaluru police on Monday and sought cancellation of <a href="https://www.editorji.com/entertainment-news/bollywood/vir-das-tests-positive-for-covid-19-goes-into-deep-thought-about-considering-embroidery-1641871383329">Vir Das</a>&rsquo; show, alleging that it will hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and show India in a bad light.&nbsp;

Depending on how long this takes, I may wind up with no quilts and 6 pillows, or like 2 quilts. If I had to choose a market, I'd choose quilts over pillows, more exclusive.
