Recently, nutritionist Hetal Chheda shared how unwashed matkas can have insect larvae growing inside them which can infect the drinking water and cause many digestive problems and infections.&nbsp;</p>

<li>Don&rsquo;t drink water while standing as it gushes through the system and does not reach the organs. So, it is advisable to always sit while drinking water.&nbsp;</li>
<li>We&rsquo;ve all heard it before: &ldquo;Drink four to five litres of water every day. Some people even recommend ten to fifteen glasses.&rdquo; These are common myths. Drinking water while not thirsty can make the brain confused. Moreover, excess water in the body causes body's salt levels to go down and the cells to swell.</li>
<li>Never drink chilled water because it disturbs the temperature of the digestive system and also has a wrong effect on the secretion in our body.</li>

<p>It's a widely believed notion that a person should drink at least two litres of water every day to stay healthy and hydrated. However, new research has busted the common myth.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Published in the journal Science, researchers looked at 5,604 people from across 23 different countries, aged between 8 days and 96 years.</p>
<p>As per researchers, eight glasses of water a day may be too much. Though it is not exactly harmful, it is also not needed in most circumstances.</p>
<p>The findings suggest that people only require about 1.5 to 1.8 litres of water a day which is lower than the two litres typically recommended.</p>

<p>According to a study released in The Lancet&rsquo;s journal eBioMedicine, drinking right amount of water may lessen chances of chronic diseases as well as ageing. Researchers collected data from more than 11,200 participants for about 30 years and observed them twice in their fifties and once between the ages of 70 and 90. &nbsp;</p>
<h3>Drinking enough water lessens chances of premature ageing</h3>
<p>It was found that those who had serum sodium levels above 142 millimoles, were 39% more likely to develop chronic diseases and 50% more likely to age earlier than their chronological age. Whereas, those with serum sodium levels above 144 millimoles were at 21% higher risk of early mortality.&nbsp;</p>
<p>So, it&rsquo;s once again clear that water is key to longer and healthier life. &nbsp;</p>
