CCTV footage of two women ringing apartment bells and locking the doors in a building in Mumbai has gone viral. A resident of the society, Shresht Poddar shared the videos of the incident on X and narrated the incident that took place on the night of January 28.&nbsp;
In the videos, it is visible that the women were recording the act. Shresht Poddar in his post on X said that "2:30 am last night. 2 young, educated girls entered &amp; recorded themselves trying to lock the doors &amp; ring the bells of houses multiple times, in my building, which has mostly 55+ &amp; senior residents, &amp; a history of previous incidents. They knew CCTVs were present."
Shresht further said that their building is an old G+2 one. In the past, there have been multiple robbery attempts, electrical fires and even murders in the vicinity. The building folk have had to run out into the compound in the middle of the night, multiple times.&nbsp;
He said that loud disturbance at night disturbs and scares them. Shresht also said that in the CCTV footage, 2 girls were seen who were looking intoxicated. They spotted the CCTV yet they proceeded to go upstairs, they were checking name plates and were latching the door from outside.&nbsp;
As social media users came across this post, they reacted by saying that these girls should be arrested. While others reacted to this by saying that this is such a disgrace.&nbsp;
On January 29, Shresht shared an update on this and said that the girls were identified offline and reprimanded. There was never an intention to punish them in some of the ways suggested by a lot of people here. The residents have decided not to file a police complaint.

The researchers from the University of Bergen in Norway also determined that women who take at least a year to conceive are 21% more likely to deliver via C-section.

The study findings were published in October in the American Journal of Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology. The study researched 42,379 mothers who participated in the Norwegian Mother, Father and Child Cohort Study (MoBa). The questionnaire asked the women about their planning for the next pregnancy.&nbsp;
Yeneabeba Sima of the Department of Global Public Health and Primary Care at the University of Bergen revealed that they researched those who are actively trying to have a baby and examined that if they have been trying to get pregnant for more than a year then they have reduced fertility.&nbsp;
Further talking about C-section delivery, Sima said, "Maternal stress might be one reasonable explanation connecting challenges in conceiving and an elevated risk of labor difficulties, ultimately leading to a higher likelihood of C-section,&rdquo; Sima said.

A recent survey of 2,000 women aged 35 and above revealed an interesting trend: upon reaching 38, the average woman experiences a newfound sense of confidence in her identity.
This boost in self-assurance didn't happen overnight. Nearly 29% of respondents confessed to feeling the least like their true selves during their teenage years, often suppressing aspects of their personality to conform to social norms. Another 21% grappled with this during their college-age years (19-23), indicating that for some women, it took over two decades to fully embrace their authentic selves.
Nevertheless, it's never too late for self-discovery. A significant 64% of women admitted that compared to their younger years, they now possess a greater sense of self-assuredness.&nbsp;
In terms of personal style, the average woman experimented with three different hairstyles over the past decade, while 27% ventured into trying more than five. Similarly, their fashion choices saw variety, with the average woman exploring three different wardrobes in the last ten years. Remarkably, almost one-quarter (23%) of respondents dabbled in six or more wardrobe styles.
Regarding hair color, respondents reported trying out an average of two different shades over the past decade. Three in five (61%) women surveyed even say that they currently have a positive view of aging.

The world's top chess federation has ruled that transgender women cannot compete in its official events for females until an assessment of gender change is made by its officials.
The decision by Lausanne, Switzerland-based federation FIDE was published on August 14 and has drawn criticism from advocacy groups and supporters of transgender rights.
FIDE said the body and its member federations increasingly have received recognition requests from players who identify as transgender, and that the participation of transgender women would depend on an analysis of individual cases that could take up to two years.
&ldquo;Change of gender is a change that has a significant impact on a player's status and future eligibility to tournaments, therefore it can only be made if there is a relevant proof of the change provided,&rdquo; the federation said.
&ldquo;In the event that the gender was changed from a male to a female the player has no right to participate in official FIDE events for women until further FIDE's decision is made,&rdquo; it said.
Holders of women's titles who change their genders to male would see those titles &ldquo;abolished,&rdquo; the federation said, while holding out the possibility of a reinstatement &ldquo;if the person changes the gender back to a woman.&rdquo; &ldquo;If a player has changed the gender from a man into a woman, all the previous titles remain eligible,&rdquo; the federation said.
It acknowledged that such questions regarding transgender players were an &ldquo;evolving issue for chess&rdquo; and that &ldquo;further policy may need to be evolved in the future in line with research evidence.&rdquo; No one immediately responded to emails to top federation officials and calls to the federation's headquarters in Switzerland seeking further comment.
Word of the decision comes as the federation is hosting a World Cup event in Azerbaijan where top players including No. 1-ranked Grand Master Magnus Carlsen of Norway are attending.
The federation has open competitions that allow all players to take part, as well as specialized categories, such as for women, young players and even computers.
Many sports involving intense physical activity &mdash; which chess does not &mdash; have been grappling with how to formulate policies toward transgender athletes in recent years.
The International Cycling Union has joined the governing bodies of track and field and swimming as top-tier Olympic sports addressing the issue of transgender athletes and fairness in women's events.
Last month, the cycling federation ruled that female transgender athletes who transitioned after male puberty will no longer be able to compete in women's races.&nbsp;

Even today gender bias remains ingrained in people and that&rsquo;s quite evident in the recent data issued by new United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) 2023 Gender Social Norms Index. The report shows that there is hardly any change in people&rsquo;s attitude towards biases on the basis of gender. &nbsp;
<h3>People still justify women being beaten by husbands</h3>
According to the report, 9 out of 10 men and women globally still holding such biases today. 50 percent of the people globally still believe that men are better political leaders, and more than 40 percent believe men make better business executives than women. A shocking percentage, that is about 25 per cent of people still justify women being beaten by their husbands. &nbsp;
<h3>Better laws and policy measures</h3>
The report further focuses on the fact that despite data showing bias against women still being prevalent worldwide, a change is still possible. Experts say that change towards gender equality can only happen with better focus on expand of human developments like laws and policy measures to promote women&rsquo;s equality in political participation, encourage innovations towards combating biased social norms, patriarchal behaviour and gender stereotypes. &nbsp;

33.6% of women worked overtime in factories in 2019 as compared to 27.9% of men in the same period

A latest data released by the labour bureau has shown that the share of women working overtime in factories has increased to 33.6% in 2019. This is a 11-year high. In 2008, the share of women working overtime was 39.2%.
Meanwhile, only 27.9% of men worked more than the statutorily-mandated hours. This is from a compilation of data furnished by states and union territories. As per the Factories Act, 1948 the maximum mandated working hour is 48 hours in a week.&nbsp;
As per the data, 58.5% of the women worked between 45 and 48 hours weekly compared to 64.6% of male workers. However only 3.1% of the men worked less than 42 hours as compared to 4.5% of women.
Tamil Nadu tops the list where women worked over time followed by Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Men employed in these working factories include 77.7% and women include 22.2%.
Recently, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka made changes in their application of the Factories Act that allows 12 hour shifts and the easing of rules for night-time work for women.&nbsp;

According to a report, Women and Men in India 2022 anaemia among women is rising drastically, with 50% of women between 15-49 years of age being anaemic in about 25 Indian states.&nbsp;
The report was released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, using the data from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) which revealed an increase in cases of anaemia from 53% in 2015-16 to 57% in 2019-2021.

According to a new study, led by Rutgers University, women mostly do not focus on orgasm due to time constraint or to put their partner&rsquo;s pleasure as priority. Maharashtra govt announces 50% concession for women in state-run buses

Women passengers will get 50 per cent concession on tickets on all types of buses run by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) from March 17, the state-owned transporter has announced.
The benefit will be extended under the &lsquo;Mahila Samman Yojana&rsquo; and the state government will reimburse the concession amount to the corporation, said a press release by MSRTC on Friday morning.
While presenting the state&rsquo;s budget for 2023-24 on March 9, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the finance portfolio, had announced 50 per cent concession to all women passengers on the buses of the public transport body.
MSRTC has a fleet of over 15,000 buses and ferries over 50 lakh passengers every day. It now offers 33 per cent to 100 per cent concessions on tickets to various social groups, said the release.
MSRTC officials said it would be difficult to determine how many women will be benefited from the scheme as they were not issuing gender-linked tickets earlier. MSRTC expects the population of women passengers to be in the range of 35-40 per cent of its total bus users, they said.
On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India&rsquo;s independence, the Maharashtra government had announced 100 per cent concession to senior citizens over 75 years and a 50 per cent concession to travellers aged between 65 and 74 years on all types of MSRTC buses.

A day ahead of her appearance before the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi liquor scam, BRS leader K Kavitha on Friday commenced a six-hour hunger strike seeking early passage of the long-pending Women's Reservation Bill.
CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury inaugurated the strike programme at Jantar Mantar here.
Among leaders present at the strike were Samajwadi Party leader Seema Shukla, Telangana Education Minister Savita Indra Reddy as well as state Women and Child Welfare Minister Sathyavathi Rathore. &nbsp; &nbsp;Sanjay Singh and Chitra Sarwara (AAP), Naresh Gujral (Akali Dal), Anjum Javed Mirza (PDP), Shami Firdous (NC), Sushmita Dev (TMC), KC Tyagi (JDU), Seema Malik (NCP), Narayana K (CPI), Shyam Rajak (RLD), Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiva Sena) and ex-Congress leader Kapil Sibal have confirmed their participation.
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; "Our party will extend support to Kavitha in this protest till the bill is passed. It is important to bring this bill to give equal opportunity to women in politics," Yechury said in his inaugural address.
Kavitha said, "If India needs to develop, women should play a key role in politics. For which, it is important to bring this bill which is pending for last 27 years." &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;This is just the beginning and the protest will continue across the country, she added.
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The bill, which seeks to reserve 33 per cent seats in Lok Sabha and all state legislative assemblies for women, was initially introduced in Lok Sabha on September 12, 1996, by the United Front government.
The Vajpayee government pushed for the bill in Lok Sabha but it still wasn't passed.
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;However, the UPA-I government, led by Congress, again introduced it in May 2008 and was passed in the Rajya Sabha but it was referred to a standing committee. In 2010, it was passed in the House and transmitted finally to the Lok Sabha. However, the bill lapsed with the 15th Lok Sabha. Since then, the bill has been lying in cold storage.
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister M K Chandrasekhar Rao, had on Thursday said the bill has been lying in cold storage since 2010 and the Modi government has a historic opportunity to get it passed in Parliament before 2024.
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised in both 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls that his government would bring this bill and that it was also part of the BJP's election manifesto.
None of the BJP leaders raised this issue and the Modi government has failed to get this bill passed in Parliament despite having a majority, she said, and added, "This is a very saddening issue." Kavitha had also said the hunger strike was planned a week before but the ED summoned her to depose before it on March 9, just a day before the planned agitation. The agency agreed to her request to appear on March 11 after the agitation.
&nbsp; &nbsp; The BRS leader has been summoned by the ED in connection with a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the excise policy.

UN: Afghanistan is world's most repressive country for women

Since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, the country has become the most repressive in the world for women and girls, deprived of many of their basic rights, the United Nations said on Wednesday.
In a statement released on the International Women's Day, the UN mission said that Afghanistan's new rulers have shown an almost &ldquo;singular focus on imposing rules that leave most women and girls effectively trapped in their homes.&rdquo;
Despite initial promises of a more moderate stance, the Taliban have imposed harsh measures since seizing power in August 2021 as US and NATO forces were in the final weeks of their pullout from Afghanistan after two decades of war.
They have banned girls' education beyond sixth grade and women from public spaces such as parks and gyms.
Women are also barred from working at national and international nongovernmental organisations and ordered to cover themselves from head to toe.
&ldquo;Afghanistan under the Taliban remains the most repressive country in the world regarding women's rights," said Roza Otunbayeva, special representative of the UN secretary-general and head of the mission to Afghanistan.
&ldquo;It has been distressing to witness their methodical, deliberate, and systematic efforts to push Afghan women and girls out of the public sphere,&rdquo; she added.

The restrictions, especially the bans on education and NGO work, have drawn fierce international condemnation.
But the Taliban have shown no signs of backing down, claiming the bans are temporary suspensions in place allegedly because women were not wearing the Islamic headscarf, or hijab, correctly and because gender segregation rules were not being followed.
As for the ban on university education, the Taliban government has said that some of the subjects being taught were not in line with Afghan and Islamic values.
&ldquo;Confining half of the country's population to their homes in one of the world's largest humanitarian and economic crises is a colossal act of national self-harm," Otunbayeva also said.
&ldquo;It will condemn not only women and girls, but all Afghans, to poverty and aid-dependency for generations to come," she said. "It will further isolate Afghanistan from its own citizens and from the rest of the world."
The UN mission to Afghanistan also said it has recorded an almost constant stream of discriminatory edicts and measures against women since the Taliban takeover &mdash; women's right to travel or work outside the confines of their home and access to spaces is largely restricted, and they have also been excluded from all levels of public decision-making.
&ldquo;The implications of the harm the Taliban are inflicting on their own citizens goes beyond women and girls,&rdquo; said Alison Davidian, the special representative for UN Women in Afghanistan.
No officials from the Taliban-led government was immediately available for comment.
The UN Security Council was to meet later on Wednesday with Otunbayeva and women representatives from Afghan civil society groups.
According to the statement, 11.6 million Afghan women and girls are in need of humanitarian assistance. However, the Taliban are further undermining the international aid effort through their ban on women working for NGOs.&nbsp;

According to the fifth round of NFHS conducted between 2019 and 2021, about 6.4 percent women and 4 percent men in the age group of 15-49 are obese. About 17.6 percent women and 18.9 percent men in the same age group are overweight but not obese. This means that almost a quarter of young women in India are overweight.&nbsp;

According to the survey, in 2019-21, on an average, 12.6 per cent women in the top wealth group in India were found to be obese. Age was also taken into consideration in the survey and it found that 11 percent women between ages 40 and 49 are overweight.&nbsp;

The study was done on 84,207 women and 88,914 men, where it was revealed that only 47% women step out of their houses on a normal day, that is, 53% women are the ones who don&rsquo;t. Whereas 87% of men go out of house on a normal day.&nbsp;
The study also revealed that women generally need a solid reason to go out whereas, men do not need reasons as such. It was observed that 81% of women who are students or are working, step out of their house once a day. On the other hand, only 30% of stay at home women go out of the house and 70% of those women do not go out of the house even once a day.&nbsp;

According to a recent study published in Science Advances, the hearts of men and women react differently to the stress hormone noradrenaline. In the research done on rats, it was seen what effect heart failure and drugs can have on different genders.&nbsp;
The team created a new type of fluorescence imaging system that allowed them to use light to see how the rats&rsquo; hearts responded to hormones and neurotransmitters in real time. The rats were exposed to noradrenaline, also known as norepinephrine.&nbsp;
The results revealed that after exposure to noradrenaline, the hearts of male and female rats first reacted similarly. However, some regions of the female heart normalised more quickly than those of the male heart, which creates differences in the heart's electrical activity.&nbsp;
