Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday launch key development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore that aim to improve amenities for the 2025 Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj and bolster the city's infrastructure.
According to an official statement, the prime minister will arrive in Prayagraj around 12:15 pm. His visit will begin with a ceremonial pooja and darshan at the holy Sangam -- the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the Saraswati rivers.
He will then perform pooja at the historic Akshay Vata Vriksh, followed by visits to the Hanuman mandir and the Saraswati Koop.
Modi will also tour the Maha Kumbh exhibition site.
He will launch projects such as road overbridges, ghats, riverfront roads, and sewage treatment systems to enhance connectivity and prevent untreated waste from entering the Ganga.
He will also inaugurate major temple corridors, including the Bharadwaj Ashram corridor, Shringverpur Dham corridor, Akshayvat corridor and the Hanuman Mandir corridor. These corridors will ensure smoother access to sacred sites for pilgrims and tourists.
To streamline communication for devotees attending the Maha Kumbh, Modi will launch the Kumbh Sah'AI'yak chatbot.
Additionally, he will launch several vital infrastructure projects related to drinking water and power supply in the region, further improving the city's basic amenities.
The prime minister will address a public meeting around 2 pm.

Uttar Pradesh BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, sources said and is believed to have briefed him on a host of issues related to the party's organisational matters in the politically crucial state.
Chaudhary and the state's Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya had met BJP national president J P Nadda separately on Tuesday amid signs of dissonant voices emerging from within the party in the state where it suffered shock losses in the Lok Sabha polls at the hands of the SP-Congress alliance.
Maurya's differences with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are widely acknowledged even within the party, and his comment at a state party meeting that "organisation is always bigger than government and no one can be bigger than the organisation" was seen by many political watchers as a message to the monk-politician.
He had made the remarks in presence of Adityanath and Nadda, while the chief minister blamed "over-confidence" for the electoral reverses in the state and suggested that the party could not effectively counter the opposition INDIA bloc's campaign.
With the party's top brass speaking to Maurya and Chaudhary, considered a sober and objective voice, they seem to be taking steps to put their house in order against a resurgent opposition in the state, which has been critical to the BJP's rise as the dominant national force since the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
The deputy chief minister further stirred the pot on Wednesday by posting his "organisation is bigger than government..." comments from his office's handle. In private conversations, a number of BJP leaders from the state, including those who lost in the Lok Sabha polls, have been critical of the chief minister's working style and cited it as one of the reasons for their loss.
However, Adityanath is seen by his supporters as a popular chief minister who has aggressively pursued the party's Hindutva agenda and maintained a firm grip on law and order.
A senior party leader acknowledged that comments from several leaders in the state have dented its image of a disciplined party but added that it was also expected as they needed to vent out their feelings after suffering a defeat which few saw coming.
BJP sources said their top priority right now is to do well in the assembly bypolls to 10 seats in the state. The Election Commission is likely to announce the date for the polls soon.
The BJP-led NDA and the Samajwadi Party held five seats each. In the recent Lok Sabha polls, the INDIA alliance of the SP and the Congress had won 43 of the state's 80 Lok Sabha seats, while the BJP-led NDA won 36. The NDA had won 64 seats in 2019.&nbsp;

Giving details about the deceased, Yogi said, "They were from UP, Haryana, MP and Rajasthan. Out of the 121 deceased, 6 were from other states. Thirty-one injured people are undergoing treatment and almost everyone is out of danger."&nbsp;

The UP leader further announced that steps will be taken to fix the accountability of "those responsible for this entire incident."&nbsp;
"Their proceedings will now begin in different districts and after the initial investigation, we will work to take further action forward..."

The BJP on Monday announced the return of Uttar Pradesh legislative council member (MLC) and former minister Yashwant Singh to the party fold two years after his expulsion, a senior party leader said.
In 2017, Singh, the then MLC of the Samajwadi Party (SP), had resigned from the legislative council to facilitate Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath become a member of the House. Adityanath was not a member of either of the houses of the UP legislature when he took oath as the chief minister of the state.
According to BJP state general secretary Govind Narayan Shukla, state unit president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary issued a letter to Singh on Monday, ending his expulsion. It is expected from Singh that he will again work with full dedication and devotion towards the ideas of the party, Shukla said.
In May 2018, Singh, who was fielded by the BJP, became an MLC.
In April, 2022, the BJP expelled Singh for six years on the charges of anti-party activities. The action against Singh followed complaints that he had fielded his son Vikrant Singh from the Azamgarh-Mau local body seat of the UP Vidhan Parishad against BJP's official candidate and also campaigned for him.
It was on the basis of reports from the regional leaders that the then state unit president, Swatantra Dev Singh, had expelled Yashwant Singh from the party.

These include $47,000 worth of gifts given by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Trump has been accused of not disclosing the gifts by a partisan democratic Congressional committee. The report alleges that Trump, 76, and the First Family failed to report more than 100 foreign gifts with a total value of over a quarter of a million dollars.
In November 2021, the State Department&rsquo;s Office of the Inspector General issued a report on significant problems at the Office of the Chief of Protocol during the Trump administration, including &ldquo;missing items of a significant value.&rdquo; The report determined that a &ldquo;lack of accurate recordkeeping and appropriate physical security controls contributed to the loss of the gifts.&rdquo;
According to the report, the documents revealed that the Trump family received 17 unreported gifts from India with a total estimated value of more than USD 47,000. Among these gifts was a USD 8,500 vase by Yogi Adityanath, a USD 4,600 model of the Taj Mahal, a USD 6,600 Indian rug by former president Kovind, USD 1,900 cufflinks by Prime Minister Modi.

Vrindavan: protest against proposed Banki Bihari temple corridor amid homelessness, livelihood loss fear

Congress leader Pradeep Mathur said his party will not remain a mute spectator to the sufferings of people.

Protests intensified in Uttar Pradesh's Vrindavan on 17 January 2023 against the construction of a proposed corridor around the Banke Bihari temple.
Priests, traders, and local residents sent 108 letters apparently written with blood to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Markets near the temple were closed for half-the-day on the third consecutive day. Protestors also burned copies of the project's proposed design.
Residents fear that they will become homeless, while traders feel they will lose their livelihoods because of the project.
Congress leader Pradeep Mathur said his party will not remain a mute spectator to the sufferings of people.
About 300 families will be made homeless and thousands of traders along with their employees will be jobless because of this project. This is not in the interest of the residents of Vrindavan, Mathur said.

&lsquo;Theatre ke popcorn ka keemat kam karo Sir. 500 rupiya lete hai popcorn ka. Picture banayenge, studio banayenge, lekin andar aayega kaun? (Please reduce the price of popcorn, sir. They charge Rs 500 for popcorn. We will make films, studios, but who will come to watch them in a cinema?),&rsquo; he said.
The actor also welcomed the Chief Minister and invited him for home-cooked food. &lsquo;Welcome to Mumbai. Kabhi bhi ghar ka khana chaiye toh hukum karna, mil jayega (If you want home-cook food, just order and you will get it),&rsquo; he said.
Taking to social media, Jackie Shroff also expressed his gratitude to Yogi Adityanath. UP CM Yogi Adityanath had recently visited Mumbai and held a meeting with Bollywood celebrities including Suniel Shetty, Manoj Joshi, Kailash Kher, Sonu Nigam, Boney Kapoor and Jackie Shroff. At the meet, Suniel Shetty also asked the UP CM to request PM Modi to put a stop on boycott Bollywood trend.
