&lsquo;You may dismiss this as the ranting of an old lady, but in my opinion, it would be foolish to make a biopic about me without actually involving me,&rsquo; she wrote, alongside a black and white picture featuring herself.
Zeenat asserted that nobody understands her life better than herself, expressing concern about strangers, particularly men, potentially stereotyping her if they were to tell her story.
&lsquo;Quite frankly, nobody knows me like I do &mdash; &nbsp;so any research to this end would be incomplete, even flawed, without my input. I&rsquo;d wager that for every factoid about me that&rsquo;s available in the public domain, there are a hundred more that are known just to me. There are a trove of milestones, anecdotes and personal revelations that are integral to understanding my journey. Zeenat wrote, "I read somewhere that Oxford&rsquo;s word for the year 2023 is 'rizz' &ndash; short for &lsquo;charisma&rsquo;. Well, if I&rsquo;ve ever known anybody to have rizz, it was Feroz Khan.&rdquo;&nbsp;
She then shared how he offered her the role for the film. She shared, "Feroz and I had a rocky start. It was the 70s, my star was on the rise, and he called me on the telephone to offer me a role in his upcoming production. It was a secondary part, and so I politely refused the offer. Feroz was incensed and let out a stream of expletives while I held the receiver away from my ear!&rdquo;&nbsp;
The veteran actor then recalled that many months later, he called again and told her, "It&rsquo;s the lead role so don&rsquo;t reject it." She said, "And that&rsquo;s how I joined the cast of Qurbani." &nbsp;&nbsp;
Zeenat then shared the incident when Feroz cut her pay for reaching late to the film sets. She wrote, "I was quite a diligent worker, but on one occasion my youth got the better of me. Though we had an early call time the next day, I agreed to go out to a party. It was a fantastic night of dance and drink, and unsurprisingly I landed up one hour late to set. Feroz was glowering behind his camera, and before I could offer him my meagre excuse, he cut me down to size, 'Begum, you&rsquo;re late and you&rsquo;re going to pay for the delay'. No argument, no scolding, but you can be sure that he docked my pay to pay the crew for that one hour delay!"&nbsp;
Praising Feroz, Zeenat shared, "Feroz was suave, charming and polished.&rdquo; She also expressed that &lsquo;Qurbani&rsquo; favourite projects to date. &nbsp;

Veteran actor Zeenat Aman took to Instagram to reveal that she had been diagnosed with an eye problem called ptosis. She shared that the condition is the result of a muscle injury that she suffered decades ago and she was hospitalised for treatment in May this year.
&lsquo;There has been an elephant in the room with me for the past 40 years. It is time to show this elephant the door. I have a condition known as ptosis &ndash; the result of an injury I suffered many decades ago that damaged the muscles around my right eye. Over the years, it caused my eyelid to droop further and further. And a few years ago it became so acute that it began to obstruct my vision,&rsquo; Zeenat Aman wrote.
&lsquo;When so much of one&rsquo;s career is predicated on one&rsquo;s appearance, coming to terms with a dramatic change to it is difficult. I know for a fact that this ptosis narrowed my opportunities and made me the subject of unwanted attention. But despite the gossip, the comments, and the questions, I never felt diminished by it. It helped of course that there were always a few stalwarts that stood by me and chose to work with me still,&rsquo; she continued.
Zeenat Aman shared that the treatments which were made available to her were &lsquo;unsuccessful&rsquo;. But in April this year, a leading ophthalmologist informed her that things had advanced and there was a surgery to lift the eyelid and restore her vision.
Zeenat wrote, &lsquo;I dithered for a long time, then underwent a battery of tests and finally committed to the procedure. That morning in the hospital I was terrified. My extremities turned icy and involuntarily shivers racked my body. Zahaan kissed my forehead, reassured me and wheeled me to the OT, where I surrendered to the hands of my medical team. I emerged from there an hour later - alive, well and looking like a pirate with an eye patch.&rsquo;
Zeenat concluded, &lsquo;Recovery has been slow, steady and is ongoing. But I&rsquo;m happy to share that my vision is so much clearer now&rsquo;.

Veteran actor Zeenat Aman took to social media on August 8 to share throwback photos with her &lsquo;favourite co-star&rsquo; Dharmendra from &lsquo;Katilon Ke Kaatil&rsquo; (1981) and a still from the song &lsquo;Naya Naya Hota Hai&rsquo; from the 1984 film &lsquo;Jagir&rsquo;.
Sharing the pictures, Zeenat wrote, &lsquo;Some personal opinions, two throwback images, and an anecdote&hellip; catalysed by the discovery of these pictures yesterday! Of the many actors I had the privilege of being a costar to, Dharm ji was a favourite.&rsquo;
&lsquo;Yes, he was strikingly handsome, but more importantly he was a down-to-earth gentleman. There were no pretences or airs about him, and that made me feel most comfortable on set. Dharm ji and I starred in a number of films together, including the international heist Shalimar. If you recall, I previously shared that this film was simultaneously shot in English and Hindi to cater to both audiences. Well, Dharm ji required assistance with his English dialogues and I required help with my Hindi. And so, post the daily shoot you would find each of us with our respective tutors, studiously running our lines for hours!&rsquo; she added.
Zeenat continued, &lsquo;These pictures aren&rsquo;t from Shalimar though. The first picture here is from the song Saare Bazaar Karenge Pyar from the film Kaatilon Ke Kaatil. It&rsquo;s an excellent number, with a full-fledged gender role reversal! I posted this image first because I think people should have the right to dress as they please, without being threatened or assaulted. Perhaps the picturization of the song was meant to be comical, but its message is clear- dikha de ham mohabbat mein hai kitna dam, duniya maanegi maanegi maanegi mohabbat aise hoti hai (Let us show how strong love can be, the world will agree love is like this).&rsquo;
She concluded, &lsquo;The second picture is from the film Jagir. And I chose it because our look was sizzling in this number. I had on a glittering silver jumpsuit and Dharm ji had a matching one in black leather! The song is called Naya Naya Hota Hain Purana Purana, which could be quite a good heading for an essay about my Instagram debut! Have a wonderful day, everyone.&rsquo;

If we are to continue this relationship on Instagram, then I must lay bare my rules of engagement. I&rsquo;ve learnt that every healthy relationship requires boundaries and here are mine: *Thou shall not spew abuses, be rude or gossip in the comments or messages. * Thou shall not pit women against one another. Many also feel entitled to the sort of gossip and judgement that would elicit their own moral outrage were the tables turned.&nbsp;
She also recalled some false narratives and hate speeches which happened with her, She further said, 'In my 50 years in Hindi cinema I have read and heard enough falsehoods and cruel statements about myself to fill a book. I have no inclination to list and counter each one of these because they simply do not merit so much of my attention.' She continued, 'Now I know the usual response to such an assertion is - well if you choose to be in the public eye, then deal with the gossip. To which my reply is - yes, I have and will continue to deal with it. But I will also not hesitate to say that spreading loose gossip and false information says much more about the speaker than the one who is spoken about!'
Concluding her post she thanked all those who have shared her stories and also spread love for those who commented on her posts.
Responding to her post, Kajol wrote, 'Facts!'.

Zeenat Aman made her Instagram debut earlier this year, and since then, she has been sharing some rare glimpses from her life.
The actor, who has been part of the industry for over 5 decades, continues to rule hearts and she was recently featured on the cover page of Vogue India.
In an interview with the magazine, she opened up about her life, career, family, and much more. She shared how people had 'far more interest' in her looks than her intellect.
Zeenat said that though she leveraged her looks, she 'chose roles that pushed the envelope'.
Zeenat said, &lsquo;I realised early on that the world desired youth and beauty from women in the film industry. So I leveraged my looks, but I also chose roles that pushed the envelope. Still, there was far more interest in my face and figure than there ever was in my intellect. This is one reason that I have loved ageing&mdash;it has evened the scales.&rsquo;
She also added, &lsquo;I have led a life of breathtaking highs and profound lows. There is nothing I regret, and nobody that I owe. Any shame or fear that has ever dogged me has long evaporated. There are incidents in my life that the public cling to and that are dredged up again and again. I am aware of these, and becoming increasingly immune to them. My life is not defined by a few bad days that transpired many decades ago, and I need neither sympathy nor defence. I am content in myself.&rsquo;
Zeenat also talked about how her appearance on social media is being hailed as a &lsquo;comeback&rsquo;, with some even referring to it as her &lsquo;second innings&rsquo;.
She shared, &lsquo;It took months for my younger son Zahaan and his partner, Cara, to convince me to join Instagram. Seven, to be precise. I had so many trepidations: who would have the patience to help me run my account? Would my privacy be in jeopardy? Isn&rsquo;t all this a young person&rsquo;s game? They chipped away at my opposition, until my walls crumbled. &ldquo;People are going to love hearing from you. You&rsquo;re Zeenat Aman!&rdquo; they repeated ad nauseam until I finally agreed out of sheer exasperation. Then they brought in their friend Tanya to click some pictures of me at home, and voila, an Instagram account was born.&rsquo;
&lsquo;I didn&rsquo;t realise how much being able to publicly speak my own truths would delight me. As a leading actor in the &rsquo;70s, I was always a subject of conversation, but almost never on my own terms. The gossip and perceptions could be suffocating, and there was rarely recourse to set the record straight. On Instagram, I have found the freedom to express myself. It&rsquo;s liberating, and consequently, I haven&rsquo;t accepted a single interview request that&rsquo;s come my way since February,&rsquo; she added.
Zeenat further said, &lsquo;This isn&rsquo;t a comeback, but it is something of a coming around. I am only today acknowledging the impact of my career on the lives of thousands of strangers. Veteran actor Zeenat Aman took to Instagram on June 26 to share a message for 'straight folks' on Pride Month.
Calling herself an ally of the LGBTQIA community, she shared a long note, especially for the older generations who are struggling to accept or are outright denying, the existence of queer identities. She further quoted Rabindranath Tagore's poem, 'Where the mind is without fear?' and urged those who carry apprehensions about queerness to not be a slave to the dead habit of hate or ignorance.
Zeenat captioned her post, 'Happy Pride Month, dear followers. When @googleindia reached out to me to be a part of their #searchforchange campaign, my first instinct was to suggest they approach someone from the LGBTQIA+ community. As a straight person I have not lived any of their experiences and so cannot speak for them. I do however consider myself an ally. I have befriended, known and worked with many talented, creative, artistic and wonderful people from this community.'
She said, 'My message thus is not for the LGBTQIA+ community; they know their own experiences best. My message is for straight folk, especially those older generations who are struggling to accept, or are outright denying, the existence of queer identities. Culture and nature are the two banal arguments that I hear cited against such relationships time and again. I am no anthropologist, but I know that healthy cultures are ever-evolving. Neither am I a naturalist, but I know that queer relationships exist in a diversity of species. Beyond this is the simple matter of free will. My own philosophy has always been to live and let live, and it perplexes me that anyone should take offence to the personal choices of another when it does them no harm. That too in matters of love.
Zeenat added, 'Do you remember that beautiful Tagore poem &lsquo;Where the Mind is Without Fear&rsquo;? It is a rousing vision of freedom, and I would like to quote from it in the hope that it will encourage you to choose love over hate, and reason over prejudice. Tagore calls for a world: Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way/Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit/Where the mind is led forward by thee/Into ever-widening thought and action.'
