Amid Canada-India diplomatic row, Justin Trudeau’s support shrinks: report

As the India-Canada rift deepens, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s domestic troubles seem to mount. A new poll says his popularity has plunged and Canadians would rather have opposition leader Pierre Poilievre in power right now.

Canada’s Global News concluded that if elections were to happen right now Poilievre would get 39% votes while Trudeau would get 30%. Canada elections are scheduled for 2025.

The outlet’s report added that conservatives would secure a majority, ousting the 51-year-old from the Prime Minister’s office.

Trudeau is currently faces a political storm, both domestic and international. He has accused the Indian government of involvment in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar--a Canadian national. In addition to rejecting the allegations, India also engaged in a diplomatic back-and-forth with Ottawa.
