BBC news bulletins in Pashto, Farsi and Uzbek have been taken off air in Afghanistan.

The Taliban ordered all television partners to remove all international broadcasters from airwaves.

Apart from the BBC, Voice of America, has been barred in the country too. VOA produces content in Dari and Pashto, two of the most spoken languages of Afghanistan. VOA said that it will continue to make available the content on the respective language sites.

Tarik Kafala, the head of languages of BBC, issued a release asking the Taliban to reverse the decision.

According to BBC, six million Afghans consume BBC content each day in Afghanistan.
