Days before India and China hold their 14th round of military-level talks on the ongoing tension in Ladakh, the United States of America commented on the situation.

When asked whether the US has discussed the Ladakh issue with China, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the Biden government is closely monitoring the situation. She called Beijing's actions destabilising. "We're concerned by the People's Republic of China's attempt to intimidate its neighbours," she said.

On January 12, Indian Army's 14 Corps commander Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta will lead discussions with the Chinese military delegation. The last round had been held in October 2021.

Since summer of 2020, Indian and Chinese troops have been eyeball-to-eyeball in many areas along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh.

While disengagement of troops occurred at some points, tension prevails at others. Forces have reportedly disengaged in Galwan Valley, north and south banks of Pangong Tso, and Gogra Post. Hot Springs, Depsang Plains, and Demchok continue to see some tension, as per reports.
