Man's death during brain wave recording leads to unique study: life flashes before eyes at time of death?

Life flashing before one's eyes at the time of death - this sentence, often used in books and movies, might have some basis in fact, according to new research.

The study occurred accidentally when a Canada-based team was reportedly trying to measure the brain waves of an 87-year-old patient with epilepsy. The octogenarian unexpectedly passed away after suffering a heart attack during the procedure. This led to the team having access to a neurological recording of a dying brain.

The scientists reportedly saw that in 30 seconds before and after death, the patient's brain waves followed the same patterns as during dreaming or recalling memories. The researchers however warned that since the patient was epileptic with a bleeding and swollen brain, further and wider studies are needed before drawing any conclusions.
