Marilyn Monroe’s house, due for demolition, saved after protests

Actor Marilyn Monroe’s home in Los Angeles has been saved from demolition after a backlash from neighbourhood residents. The Brentwood residence was the only one Monroe ever owned. She was also found dead in this house.

Residents of the area protested after the current owner secured a permit to demolish the 2,624-square-foot. LA lawmakers are now considering declaring the house a historic building.

Demolition is on hold until the city’s Office of Historic Resources conducts a study and analysis of the home, according to Park.

The 2,624-square-foot home sits on an estate that boasts a swimming pool and citrus grove. It has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, news agency PTI reported.

The property was to be demolished by its current owner, who bought the 2,900-square-foot hacienda for USD 8.35 million.
