UK: Train services disrupted in London after railway workers' demonstration

Train services in the UK were disrupted Thursday after train drivers joined thousands of other workers in their strike against low pay, price hike, jobs among other issues.

Standing on a picket line at London Euston station, the railway workers held placards as they protested the distressing situation.

The action was the latest in a series of strikes by British workers seeking substantial raises to offset soaring prices for food and fuel. Scores of railway cleaners, signalers, maintenance wokers staged a series of one-day strikes in June and July.

RMT official Mick Lynch said that it's a six day strike has become a talking point nationally.

"Once we land into an agreement with the company our members can get back to work on a regular basis and run the railway for the people," Lynch asserted

The strike is expected to intensify next week with trains, bus and subway network workers' participation.
