The ceasefire has largely halted the Israel-Hamas war sparked by the October 7, 2023 attack, and has seen 25 hostages released so far in exchange for hundreds of prisoners.
But its complexity and long-drawn-out implementation have highlighted its fragility in a war that has shattered millions of lives on both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
In Washington, US President Donald Trump's top envoy on the Middle East said Israeli representatives were en route to talks on the next phase of the ceasefire deal.
"We're making a lot of progress. Israel is sending a team right now as we speak," Steve Witkoff told an event for the American Jewish Committee.
"It's either going to be in Doha or in Cairo, where negotiations will begin again with the Egyptians and the Qataris," he said.
Hamas said an agreement was reached on the delayed release of Palestinian prisoners.
"It was decided that they would be released simultaneously with the bodies of the Israeli prisoners, which had been agreed upon for handover during the first phase," Hamas said in a statement on Tuesday.
Israel has yet to confirm its release, and has not commented on whether it is sending a delegation to discuss the second phase of the truce.
This first phase is supposed to end on Saturday, but negotiations planned for the rest of the process -- which were to begin in early February -- have not yet started.
Hamas has said it is ready to release "in one go" all the hostages remaining during the second phase.
On Sunday, the group accused Israel of endangering the Gaza truce by delaying the release of 620 Palestinian prisoners.
Israel justified the delay by citing concerns over how the hostages have been freed, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu describing the process as "humiliating ceremonies".

Since the ceasefire took effect on January 19, Hamas has released 25 living hostages in public ceremonies across Gaza, where masked, armed fighters have escorted the captives onto stages decorated with slogans.
Israel has released more than 1,100 Palestinian prisoners.
The International Committee of the Red Cross has urged all parties to carry out prisoner and hostage swaps "in a dignified and private manner".
In Israel, the prisoners are largely viewed as "terrorists" for the violent attacks they have carried out against civilians and security forces.
For Palestinians, however, the releases are viewed as long-delayed justice with the prisoners often regarded as symbols of resistance against Israeli occupation.
Both sides have accused each other of violating the ceasefire, but it has so far largely held.
Israel vowed to destroy Hamas after its October 7 attack, the deadliest in the country's history, and has made bringing back all hostages seized that day one of its war objectives.
The attack that triggered the war resulted in the deaths of more than 1,200 people, most of them civilians, according to an AFP tally of official Israeli figures.
Israel's retaliation in Gaza killed more than 48,000 people, according to the health ministry in the Hamas-run territory, figures that the United Nations deems credible.

Israel's national anthem was played as the black vehicle convoy passed through the crowd of mourners in the central city of Rishon LeZion, where the remains of the three hostages had been prepared for burial.
"I think if I stop to think about it for more than a split second, I feel so sickened, so sickened," said Simi Polonasky, 38, who travelled from Miami to support hostage families.
"It's not a regular situation: if you're not feeling numb, you're feeling so shattered and broken that it almost feels hard to continue," she told AFP, starting to weep as she spoke.
On Tuesday, hundreds of people attended the funeral of hostage Oded Lifshitz, a peace activist and former journalist who died in captivity and whose body was returned last week.
"We have fought all these years for social justice and peace. Unfortunately, we have received a terrible blow from those we helped on the other side," said his wife, Yocheved Lifshitz, who was also kidnapped on October 7 in Kibbutz Nir Oz but released a few weeks later.
Alongside the Gaza war, which displaced much of the enclave's population of 2.4 million, Israel has intensified its military operations in the West Bank.
The Israeli army said Tuesday it also carried out air strikes targeting military sites containing weapons in southern Syria, just days after Netanyahu called for demilitarising the area.
At least two people were killed by a strike on one of the sites, the headquarters of a military unit southwest of Damascus, a war monitor said.

A fresh search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has been launched more than a decade after the plane went missing in one of aviation's greatest enduring mysteries.
Maritime exploration firm Ocean Infinity has resumed the hunt for the missing plane, Malaysian transport minister Anthony Loke said Tuesday.
Loke told reporters contract details between Malaysia and the firm were still being finalised but welcomed "the proactiveness of Ocean Infinity to deploy their ships" to begin the search for the plane which went missing in March 2014.
Loke added that details on how long the search would last had not been negotiated yet.
He also did not provide details on when exactly the British firm kicked off its hunt.
The Malaysian government in December had said it had agreed to launch a new search for MH370, which disappeared more than a decade ago.
The Boeing 777 carrying 239 people disappeared from radar screens on March 8, 2014, while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
Despite the largest search in aviation history, the plane has never been found.
"We're very relieved and pleased that the search is resuming once again after such a long hiatus," Malaysian Grace Nathan, 36, who lost her mother on the doomed jet, told AFP.

In December, Loke had said the new search would be on the same "no find, no fee" principle as Ocean Infinity's previous search, with the government only paying out if it finds the aircraft.
The contract was for 18 months and Malaysia would pay $70 million to the company if the plane was found, Loke previously had said.
Ocean Infinity, based in Britain and the United States, carried out an unsuccessful hunt in 2018.
The company's first efforts followed a massive Australia-led search for the aircraft that lasted three years before it was suspended in January 2017.
The Australia-led search covered 120,000 square kilometres (46,300 square miles) in the Indian Ocean but found hardly any trace of the plane, with only some pieces of debris picked up.
In December, Loke said a new 15,000 square kilometre (5,800 square mile) area of the southern Indian Ocean would be scoured by Ocean Infinity.
"They combined all the data and they felt confident that the current search area is more credible," said Loke Tuesday.
"They (Ocean Infinity) have convinced us that they are ready."
The plane's disappearance has long been the subject of theories -- ranging from the credible to outlandish -- including that veteran pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah had gone rogue.
A final report into the tragedy released in 2018 pointed to failings by air traffic control and said the course of the plane was changed manually.

A brief last conversation between Shahzadi and her father hinted at her imminent execution, prompting him to seek urgent diplomatic intervention.

The Foreign Ministry stated that all possible assistance is being extended, with arrangements for Shahzadi's cremation set for March 5, 2025.

During an interview on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," Lutnick confirmed, "There are going to be tariffs on Tuesday on Mexico and Canada. Exactly what they are, we're going to leave that for the president and his team to negotiate."
Lutnick indicated that the situation remains "fluid," with the 30-day delay on duties&mdash;linked by President Trump to issues of illegal border crossings and fentanyl trafficking&mdash;about to end on March 4.
Although Lutnick acknowledged that Canada and Mexico have made "reasonable efforts" in securing their U.S. borders, he pointed out the continued entry of deadly fentanyl into the United States. He added that President Trump is also expected to increase tariffs on Chinese goods unless China acts to halt fentanyl trafficking.
The commerce secretary's statements mark the first hint from the Trump administration suggesting that it could reconsider the full 25% tariff threat on all imports from Mexico and non-energy imports from Canada.

Those ensnared by the message were asked to contact a WhatsApp number and hand over between 250,000 and one million rupiah ($15-$60) as an "administrative fee" to get aid that never materialised.
Since last year's Indonesian election, experts have warned of a tidal wave of deepfakes -- audio, images and video appearing to come from a known person but which are in fact the work of scammers using artificial intelligence tools. And victims say the hoaxes are so sophisticated they leave others vulnerable to being conned too.
"People should be more careful. Don't be easily fooled by the lure of prizes," said Aryani, 56, who handed over 200,000 rupiah to fraudsters after seeing a deepfake video of a prominent Indonesian businessman.
"I need money, but instead I'm asked to send money. They even made video calls with me, as if I were talking directly to them."

But now that technology has fallen into the hands of criminals looking to make cold, hard cash.
Wide circulation AFP's fact-checkers found the account behind the Prabowo clip has posted dozens of similar videos appearing to show various high-profile figures, including Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Those videos also promote the bogus financial aid.
Police arrested a suspect who pocketed 65 million rupiah ($4,000) from the scam, Himawan Bayu Aji, director of the Indonesian National Cyber Crime Unit told reporters in February.
He said officers detained a second person involved in another scam that also used deepfake technology, without disclosing the amount raised.
AFP Fact Check's investigation found the spread of such videos had a much wider reach than the two accounts that police announced.
Deepfake videos of the president, a popular ex-general, were still circulating on social media after the arrests, including dozens on TikTok with the hashtag "Prabowo shares blessings".
At least 22 TikTok accounts were touting the same fraudulent scheme since Prabowo took office in October, AFP journalists found, with some appearing to take advantage of his recent rise to the presidency.
One account with more than 77,000 followers racked up 7.5 million views on a fabricated video of Prabowo apparently doling out financial assistance.
Another account with thousands of followers has shared 100 videos since January alone, the majority featuring deepfake videos of the president offering cash.
TikTok said it had removed one of the deepfake scam videos and the associated account, adding it would continue to remove any that violated the platform's community guidelines, which prohibit misleading posts.
Facebook parent Meta did not respond to AFP's request for comment.
AFP, along with more than 100 other fact-checking organisations, is paid by TikTok and Meta to verify social media posts that potentially contain false information.
More accessible Aribowo Sasmito, a co-founder of Indonesian fact-checking organisation Mafindo, said his team were finding new deepfake scams every week because of their prolific spread online.
"We have started to see deepfake videos since last year as AI tools have become more accessible and affordable," he told AFP.
Schemes using deepfakes of prominent figures appear to be on the rise.&nbsp;
Tech billionaire Elon Musk and Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are among a string of celebrities targeted in recent years by sophisticated impersonations to push cash scams.
Aribowo said his team of fact-checkers was working harder than ever to debunk these scams using the latest technology available to criminals.
"We noticed the quality of these videos has improved over time. It has become more difficult to distinguish between fake and real videos," he added.
"The challenge is the volume of these scams."

After appearing to recover slightly during the week, the Argentine pope suffered a breathing crisis on Friday, causing widespread concern, but he passed a quieter weekend.
"The clinical conditions of the Holy Father remained stable today," the Vatican said on Sunday in its regular early evening medical update.
The leader of the world's almost 1.4 billion Catholics "did not require non-invasive mechanical ventilation, only high-flow oxygen therapy", it said.
He does not have a fever, and on Sunday morning he participated in mass, spending the rest of the day alternating rest with prayer, it added.
A Vatican source said that with 48 hours now passed, it appeared there had been "no further consequences" from Friday's crisis.
However, the Holy See statement added that "in view of the complexity of the clinical picture, the prognosis remains reserved".
'Supported by God's people'
Francis, born Jorge Bergoglio, missed his traditional Angelus prayer for a third straight Sunday, the Vatican issuing a written text instead.
"I would like to thank you for the prayers, which rise up to the Lord from the hearts of so many faithful from many parts of the world," he wrote.
"I feel all your affection and closeness and, at this particular time, I feel as if I am 'carried' and supported by all God's people. Thank you all."
The pope concluded by calling, as he often does during his Angelus prayer, for peace around the world.
"From here, war appears even more absurd. Let us pray for tormented Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sudan and Kivu," Francis wrote.
At St Peter's Square, where pilgrims normally gather to hear the pope at noon on a Sunday, some in the crowd expressed concern at his absence.
"The first thought when you enter the square is to look where he usually looked out of the window," Lorena Compare, a 49-year-old accountant, told AFP.

The Jesuit, who has been pope since 2013, has suffered numerous health issues in recent years, from colon surgery in 2021 to a hernia operation in 2023 and pain that causes him to use a wheelchair.
But at 17 days, this is the longest and most serious hospitalisation of his papacy, sparking widespread concern about his health and his future leading the Church.
Last weekend, the Vatican reported the pope was in a "critical" condition after he suffered a major respiratory attack and required blood transfusions.
There followed a series of incremental improvements, but on Friday Francis "presented an isolated crisis of bronchospasm which led to an episode of vomiting with inhalation and a sudden worsening of the respiratory picture", the Vatican said.
On Saturday, it said there had been no repeat of this crisis and he was in a "stable" condition.
The pope's haemodynamic parameters -- those relating to the flow of blood -- were also stable, and he did not have the high white-blood-cell count that often indicates an infection, the Vatican said.
Worried world
Catholics and other well-wishers around the world have been praying for the liberal reformer, the first pontiff from the Americas.
Pilgrims have flocked to the Gemelli hospital, many leaving handwritten messages including posters illustrated by children, and balloons bearing his image.
Francis has continued to work from the special papal suite on the hospital's 10th floor, amid speculation about his ability to continue to lead the Church.
Francis has always left open the option of resigning if his health declined, following the example set by his predecessor, German theologian Benedict XVI, who quit in 2013.
Before his hospitalisation, Francis had repeatedly said it was not yet the time -- and might never be.
He maintains a packed schedule, particularly with the Church celebrating a Jubilee holy year this year, an event predicted to draw tens of millions of pilgrims to Rome and the Vatican.
Yet medical experts have warned that Francis's age and health means a sustained recovery will take time.
