USA to coordinate with G7 allies amid Russia's Wagner rebellion: State Dept

After Chief of Wagner Group, a private army of mercenaries that fought in Ukraine from Russia's side declared armed rebellion against Moscow's military leadership and vowed topple it the United States of America is keeping a close eye on the situation.

Washington will stay "in close coordination" with its Group of Seven allies amid the unfolding crisis in Russia, where Wagner mercenaries launched a mutiny, officials said Saturday.

"The United States will stay in close coordination with Allies and partners as the situation continues to develop," State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement, adding that support for Ukraine "will not change."

Earlier, Russian President Putin called coup by his once most trusted guy Yevgeny Prigozhin treachery, treason and betrayal.

Meanwhile, dismissing Putin's allegations, Yevgeny Prigozhin claimed that he and his fighters are patriots.
