Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a Janata Darshan at the Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur on Wednesday morning, addressing public grievances and directing officials to resolve issues promptly.
During the event, people presented their concerns, and the Chief Minister issued instructions for swift redressal.
Since assuming office in 2017, Adityanath has regularly held Janata Darshan programs to ensure quick resolution of citizens' complaints.
A day earlier, on Tuesday, he distributed motorised tricycles to differently-abled individuals in Gorakhpur and visited an exhibition showcasing public welfare schemes by the central and state governments.
During a special event marking eight years of the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath expressed gratitude to the people. "Under the leadership of PM Modi, 8 years of service, safety, and good governance have been completed. The double-engine government of UP has completed 8 years. I thank 25 crore people of Uttar Pradesh for their support," he stated at a press conference.
Comparing the present government with previous administrations, he highlighted how the state once faced an "identity crisis" and struggled with infrastructure, economy, and law and order. He emphasized that the transformation in Uttar Pradesh reflects how governance changes can bring significant improvements.
Adityanath became Chief Minister in 2017 after the BJP secured an unprecedented 312 out of 403 seats in the assembly elections. In 2022, the party retained power with 255 seats, making him the first CM in Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s history to serve two consecutive terms.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi&rsquo;s visit to Mukhwa, the winter abode of &ldquo;Mother Ganga&rdquo; in Uttarkashi district earlier this month, has created a favourable atmosphere for the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand.
Char Dham Yatra refers to a pilgrimage of four holy sites &mdash; Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath &mdash; situated in the higher ranges of the Himalayas.
Modi visited Mukhwa and Harsil on March 6.
The annual Char Dham Yatra is scheduled to begin this year with the opening of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples in the Garhwal Himalayas on April 30.
Prime Minister Modi&rsquo;s visit to Mukhwa, &ldquo;the winter seat of Maa Ganga&rdquo;, and tourist destination Harsil has created a favourable atmosphere for the annual pilgrimage. It has enthused pilgrims even more, an official release here said.
It was for the first time that the prime minister came to Uttarakhand close to the start of the Char Dham Yatra.
Though he came to formally promote winter pilgrimage to the Himalayan temples, did considerable branding of the Char Dham Yatra too, it said.
The prime minister&rsquo;s grand promotion of the Yatra has created more enthusiasm among people.
Seeing the enthusiasm for registration, preparations are being made for better crowd management, it said.
&ldquo;The government is busy preparing for the Char Dham Yatra. The travel arrangements of Uttarakhand have attracted devotees from all over the country and the world and have increased their confidence.
&ldquo;The Prime Minister has promoted the Char Dham Yatra a lot. We are committed to providing better facilities to the pilgrims,&rdquo; Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said.
This time the Char Dham Yatra is starting ten days earlier than last year.
The Char Dham Yatra was inaugurated on May 10 last year. This time it is starting from April 30.
In 2023, the Yatra started on April 22 and a record 56,18497 pilgrims reached Uttarakhand.
In 2024, despite natural disasters disrupting the Yatra for nearly a month, the number of pilgrims surprised everyone as more than 48 lakh of them reached Uttarakhand for the Yatra.
The portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples will open for devotees on April 30 followed by the opening of the gates of Kedarnath on May 2 and those of Badrinath on May 4.&nbsp;

Cheema said, for the first time in Punjab's history, the Bhagwant Mann government has decided to extend the state health insurance scheme in the coming fiscal year to make it universal and cover all the 65 lakh families in the state.&nbsp;
There will be no bar or discrimination --rural or urban, rich or poor --everyone can participate in this scheme, he said.

The Punjab Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution on Tuesday to protect the state's depleting water levels and environment.
Water Resources Minister Brinder Kumar Goyal, speaking on a resolution introduced by MLA Gurdev Singh Dev Maan, emphasized the government's commitment to conserving groundwater while criticizing the union government's lack of support.
He highlighted that between 2019 and 2022, the previous government allocated ₹2,046 crore for canal infrastructure, whereas the current government has invested over ₹4,557 crore from 2022 to 2025&mdash;more than double the previous amount&mdash;to restore infrastructure and ensure canal water reaches agricultural land.
"Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had decided immediately upon forming the government to ensure water reaches agricultural land, which we have successfully accomplished," he said.
The minister pointed out that the utilization of dam water has increased from 68% to 84% under the Mann government. The administration has restored 17,072 water courses spanning 6,300 km, which had remained non-functional for decades. Additionally, 79 canals covering 545 km have been rehabilitated, benefiting 41,135 acres of farmland. In Fazilka, 12 canals under the Luther Canal System, inactive for 15 years, have also been revived.
New canals are being constructed in Malerkotla, Pathankot, Amritsar, Malwa, and other regions, while 23 canals in Tarn Taran that had remained unusable for over 30 years have been restored. Expansion work on Rohira, Kanganwal, and Dehlon canals in Malerkotla has been completed, with further canal projects initiated in Gurdaspur, Fazilka, and Sri Muktsar Sahib districts.
"For the first time since independence, the capacity of major canals such as Sirhind Canal and Patiala Feeder has been increased. After addressing design issues, resolving farmers' demands, and gaining the union government's confidence, the long-pending Sirhind Feeder Canal relining project has been completed," he said.
The government has completed 129 canal water recharge sites, with 60 more under development. Additionally, 127 new ponds are being excavated and connected to canals, while 66 existing ponds are being linked for groundwater recharge.
The minister highlighted that compared to the past five years, the state now utilizes 12% more water during the Kharif season. In Ropar and Hoshiarpur, 28 new lift schemes have been identified to provide water to Punjab&rsquo;s border areas, with 15 already operational.
Criticizing the union government, he stated, "While the union government consistently produces reports about declining water levels in Punjab, it has never fulfilled its responsibility to help conserve the state's water resources."
He further stressed that Punjab requires ₹17,000 crore for water-course work and infrastructure improvements, which could help save 20% of the state's water. While many canals have been restored, significant financial investment is still needed.
"For a state that has lost its water for the nation, the union government is not taking any concrete steps to address its water challenges," he said, urging support from the union government to help Punjab properly manage its water resources. He also encouraged legislators to initiate water conservation efforts at an individual level.
Several Cabinet Ministers and MLAs, including Aman Arora, Lal Chand Kataruchak, Laljit Singh Bhullar, Inderbir Singh Nijjar, and Narinder Kaur Bharaj, among others, also shared their views on the resolution.

Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday said the CBI conducted searches at his residence ahead of his scheduled visit to New Delhi for a Congress meeting.
Teams of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday swooped down at the residences of Baghel in Raipur and Bhilai as well as the residential premises of a senior police officer and a close associate of the former CM, officials said.
The agency is tight-lipped about the matter in which the searches are taking place.
Sources, however, said it is linked to Mahadev online betting app 'scam'.
Reacting to the action, Baghel's office in a post on X said, "Now CBI has arrived. Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is scheduled to go to Delhi today for the meeting of the "Drafting Committee" constituted for the AICC meeting to be held in Ahmedabad (Gujarat) on April 8 and 9."
"Before that, CBI has reached Raipur and Bhilai residences," it added.
The raids also covered the premises of some other leaders of the Congress and police officials in Raipur and Durg districts, as per the sources.
State Congress communication wing head Sushil Anand Shukla slammed the BJP over the action and claimed the ruling party was scared of Baghel.
&ldquo;Ever since Baghel has become the party in-charge of Punjab, the BJP is scared. First, the Enforcement Directorate was sent to his residence and now, the CBI has been sent. This shows the BJP's fear. When the BJP fails to fight politically, it uses central agencies against its opponents," he alleged.
"Neither Bhupesh Baghel nor the Congress party is scared,&rdquo; Shukla said.
The people of the country and the state are well aware of these "oppressive" policies of the BJP, he said.
Earlier also, the CBI had lodged a case against Baghel in connection with an alleged seven-year-old (sleaze) CD matter, but the court recently discharged him of all charges, Shukla added.
The state government last year handed over to the CBI 70 cases related to the alleged Mahadev scam lodged with different police stations and one case registered with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in the state.
Recently, the Enforcement Directorate had conducted searches at Baghel's residence in a connection with an alleged liquor scam case.

In a major step towards making Punjab a leader in green energy production, the Punjab government is considering incentives for farmers who generate surplus solar energy through solar pumps used for agriculture, announced Aman Arora, Minister of New and Renewable Energy Sources.
Responding to a question raised by Naresh Puri, MLA from Sujanpur Assembly constituency, during the question hour in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Aman Arora stated that this initiative would empower farmers, strengthen the renewable energy sector, and contribute to the state's sustainable future. Under the proposed policy, farmers will be compensated for any excess solar energy produced beyond their own consumption. This surplus energy will be fed into the grid, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and promoting a greener Punjab.
"By empowering farmers to become active participants in the renewable energy sector, we are not only promoting clean energy but also creating new economic opportunities for our farmers," said Aman Arora. He added that the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) plans to install 20,000 solar pumps for agriculture, with over 5,000 already allocated to farmers.
He also shared that 4,474 government buildings have been equipped with rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) panels with a total capacity of 34 MW, generating over 4.9 crore units of electricity annually. PEDA further plans to set up 100 MW capacity solar power plants on government buildings over the next two financial years.
Highlighting the benefits of grid-connected rooftop solar PV power plants, he explained that these systems generate electricity at the consumer level, reducing distribution network losses. The power generated helps bridge the demand-supply gap and enables PSPCL to meet renewable purchase obligations set by the Electricity Regulatory Commissions. The PV systems produce electricity during the day, with excess energy fed back into the grid.

The event took place at the Punjab Police Headquarters, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between IPF and Punjab Police. The ceremony was attended by DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, IPS, Dr. Ish Kumar, IPS (Retd.), Vice-President IPF and Project Director, ADGP/Traffic and Road Safety A.S. Rai, IPS (State Nodal Officer), and G.S. Sandhu, IPS (Retd.) (State Supervisor of the IPF project).
During a press conference at the Police Lines auditorium, ADGP A.S. Rai emphasized that this MoU will foster cooperation between Punjab Police and IPF, focusing on citizen-centric policing reforms. The initiative aims to address common citizens' challenges while interacting with local police and implementing remedial measures to ensure efficient, people-friendly policing.
Initially, the IPF project will be implemented in 30 police stations across four districts&mdash;SAS Nagar, Rupnagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Khanna. In Rupnagar, nine police stations have been identified, including PS City Rupnagar, Sadar Rupnagar, Singh Bhagwantpur, City Morinda, Sadar Morinda, Chamkaur Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, Nurpurbedi, and Nangal. The project will eventually expand across Punjab in a phased manner.
As part of the initiative, IPF researchers will conduct public consultation meetings in Rupnagar police stations with stakeholders, including complainants, victims, witnesses, convicts, under-trials, frontline police personnel, and traffic violators from March 25 to April 2, 2025.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ish Kumar, IPS (Retd.), highlighted that IPF researchers will identify core issues, create a change manual, and provide training to police station personnel. The impact of these reforms on citizens will be assessed, and a set of recommendations will be made for long-term implementation through standing orders, circulars, and SOPs.
He further stated that Punjab Police will offer full support, including manpower, logistics, data access, and coordination, to ensure the successful execution of the reforms. Dr. Ish Kumar also assured DGP Punjab that the research-driven outcomes will greatly benefit the people of the state and enhance the image of Punjab Police.
Later in the day, the IPF team, led by Dr. Ish Kumar and ADGP A.S. Rai, held a meeting with police officers, including SHOs of Rupnagar district. The session was attended by SSP Rupnagar G.S. Khurana, IPS, along with other senior police officials.

Addressing the House, Deputy Speaker Rouri highlighted the necessity of these additional financial provisions beyond the initially sanctioned budget. He explained that while the Assembly allocates funds to different departments, unforeseen needs often arise, making it essential to provide supplementary resources for public welfare programs, judicial directives, and new government policies. He emphasized that these additional allocations are vital to ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted execution of key projects and initiatives.
Following a thorough review, the Estimates Committee recommended approving these Supplementary Demands to support the efficient implementation of government schemes. The additional funds will be directed toward crucial sectors. In agriculture and farmer welfare, subsidies will be provided for machinery under the Crop Residue Management Scheme and the School Scheme, along with financial aid for sugarcane farmers. Infrastructure development will also see significant support, with allocations for the repair and modernization of 127 rural roads across 21 districts, the renovation of warehouses, and the strengthening of Verka dairies' infrastructure.
The health and public welfare sectors will benefit from funding for essential medicine procurement for ESI hospitals and dispensaries. Additionally, law enforcement will be strengthened with upgrades in the State Police Department to enhance security and public safety. Environmental concerns have also been addressed, with funds allocated for wastewater treatment improvements in Ludhiana&rsquo;s dyeing industry.
Urban development projects under the Smart City initiatives and the AMRUT Mission will receive financial support, while the irrigation and water resources sector will benefit from canal renovation and repair. Moreover, the establishment of sugar complexes has been included in the supplementary allocations to bolster both the industrial and agricultural sectors.

He also spoke about his government&rsquo;s employment initiatives, stating that over 52,000 jobs have been provided to youth in the past 36 months based purely on merit, without corruption or nepotism. "It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that these youth will contribute to the socio-economic development of Punjab," he said.
Encouraging students to draw inspiration from individuals who have overcome humble beginnings to achieve greatness, Mann reassured them that the state government would support their ambitions. "The world is full of examples where people from modest backgrounds have succeeded through hard work and dedication," he remarked.
The Chief Minister reflected on Punjab&rsquo;s rich history, noting that the state is not only the country&rsquo;s food bowl but also its "sword arm," known for courage, resilience, and enterprise. "Every inch of this sacred land has the footprint of great Gurus, saints, seers, and martyrs who have shown us the way to oppose tyranny, injustice, and oppression," he said, highlighting Punjab&rsquo;s cultural legacy and warm hospitality.
Taking a dig at traditional political parties, Mann claimed they were envious of his leadership because he came from a common background. "These leaders always believed they had a divine right to rule, and they cannot digest that a common man is running the state efficiently," he stated. He accused them of misleading the people but expressed confidence that citizens were no longer falling for their propaganda.
Recalling his personal connection to Ludhiana since the early 1990s, when he was an aspiring artist, Mann encouraged the students to persevere through challenges. "Never lose heart or get discouraged by failures&mdash;they are the stepping stones to success," he advised, urging them to remain humble and dedicated to their goals.

The upcoming monsoon session of Parliament will debate a streamlined Income Tax Bill designed to simplify existing laws and reduce litigation.

The new Income Tax Bill will be taken up for discussion in the monsoon session of Parliament, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday.
Replying to the discussions on the Finance Bill 2025 in the Lok Sabha, Sitharaman said the new income tax bill, which was introduced in the House on February 13, is currently being vetted by the Select Committee.
The Select Committee has been mandated to submit its report by the first day of the next session of Parliament.
"...we will take it (new income tax bill) up in the monsoon session," Sitharaman said.
The monsoon session of Parliament is usually convene in July and runs through August.
The simplified Income Tax Bill, which is half the size of the 1961 Income Tax Act, seeks to achieve tax certainty by minimising the scope of litigation and fresh interpretation, the Income Tax department had earlier said.
The new bill has a word count of 2.6 lakh, lower than 5.12 lakh in the I-T Act. The number of sections is 536 against 819 effective sections in the existing law.
The number of chapters has also been halved to 23 from 47.
The Income Tax Bill 2025 has 57 tables compared to 18 in the existing Act and removed 1,200 provisos and 900 explanations.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled Basangouda Patil Yatnal, a prominent leader from Karnataka, for a period of six years following his critical remarks about the party and former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.
Previously aligned closely with Yediyurappa, the Vijayapura MLA's relationship with the party soured after Basavaraj Bommai was chosen as the new Chief Minister over him.
Yatnal further distanced himself from the party by expressing dissatisfaction with the selection of Yediyurappa's son as the BJP's state president. His controversial comments during the Ranya Rao case reportedly exacerbated tensions with the party leadership.
The BJP's Central Disciplinary Committee evaluated Yatnal's response to a showcause notice issued on February 18, taking a stern stance on his consistent breaches of party protocol, which persisted despite assurances of compliance.
Consequently, the party's note declared that Yatnal was expelled from its primary membership and relieved of all party positions with immediate effect.
Yatnal has previously criticized the BJP for not appointing a Chief Minister from north Karnataka, an area that significantly bolsters the party's legislative strength. Consistent in his dissent, Yatnal reiterated his objection to the leadership structure, particularly concerning Yediyurappa's son.
Reacting to his expulsion, Yatnal made biting remarks about perceived nepotism within the party, implying that positions were being reserved for Yediyurappa's familial successors, including "his sons, grandsons, dogs, and their puppies." He expressed disappointment, interpreting his expulsion as a consequence of his hard work and advocacy.

On a day when Mumbai Police issued a second summons to comedian Kunal Kamra for his remarks on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Kamra released another satirical song, this time targeting Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The satirical rendition, based on the iconic "Hawa Hawai" song from the 1987 blockbuster 'Mr India,' was part of a comedy special recorded at the Habitat Comedy Club in Mumbai&rsquo;s Khar about a month ago. Kamra shared this segment on YouTube on Sunday and, on Wednesday, reposted it with popcorn emojis.
Many interpreted this as a jab related to last year's controversy concerning GST (Goods and Services Tax) rates on cinema snacks.
In the video, Kamra critiques the government on several issues, including potholes, roadworks for Metro construction, and bridge collapses. He highlighted the disparity in tax contributions between corporate employees and the corporations themselves.
Referring to Nirmala Sitharaman with nicknames such as "sariwaali didi" and "Nirmala tai," he turned his comedic lens on the Finance Minister.
The second summons follows a case filed by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel against Kamra for another satirical piece based on &lsquo;Bholi Si Surat&rsquo; from the 1997 hit 'Dil To Pagal Hai.'
In this performance, Kamra alluded to Mr. Shinde without naming him and referenced 'gaddar' (traitor), seemingly a nod to Shinde's 2022 political maneuver that fractured the Shiv Sena and aligned with the BJP, resulting in the Uddhav Thackeray-led government losing power in Maharashtra.
Although summoned by Mumbai Police on Tuesday, Kamra requested a week to comply. The police denied this and reiterated their summons on Wednesday.
Despite legal pressures, Kamra displayed defiance with a Tuesday post featuring Shiv Sena workers vandalizing the Habitat Comedy Club, set to another satirical tune.
Altering "Hum Honge Kamyaab" to "Hum Honge Kangaal," he accompanied the lyrics with visuals of the club being ransacked by Sena members.
The post also included a clip of Yuva Sena General Secretary Rahool Kanal, one of 12 Sena affiliates arrested for the vandalism. Kanal had earlier informed ANI that the incident was merely a "trailer," implying more was forthcoming.
In response, Mr. Shinde criticized Kamra and the Uddhav Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena, asserting that the electoral alliance between his Shiv Sena, the BJP, and Ajit Pawar's faction reflected the people's choice, definitively addressing who the "real" traitor was.
Speaking in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Shinde remarked, "You keep calling me 'gaddar, gaddar'; soon you will need to shut the 'daar' (door in Marathi) of your party."

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday accused the opposition of acting as "barriers" in the state's development.
Addressing an event organised to mark eight years of the BJP government in the state, the chief minister said, "All those who are above 25 years of age will remember that before 2017, the public system of Uttar Pradesh was ruled by hooliganism and mafia.&rdquo;
He emphasised that the situation was especially dire for the youth, farmers, and the general public. &ldquo;The youth was facing an identity crisis, farmers used to commit suicide, and the poor used to die of hunger,&rdquo; he added.
Underscoring the progress made under his government, Adityanath said, &ldquo;This is the same state where the youth did not get jobs and when they went out of the state, they faced an identity crisis,&rdquo; he said.
He criticised the Congress and the Samajwadi Party for allegedly "opposing development".
"When it comes to the pride of Uttar Pradesh, these people first start making misleading comments," he said.
He alleged that the Congress and SP were "fighting against the government during the COVID pandemic". They were not happy with the consecration of Ram temple and "spread false propaganda regarding the Maha Kumbh," he added.
"When these people got the opportunity, the Congress, the Samajwadi Party, they never did any development and when it is happening in UP, they are becoming a barrier in the way of development," said the chief minister.
Claiming development in sectors like agriculture, Adityanath said, &ldquo;Farmers who once faced despair are now contributing to the state&rsquo;s development and no longer committing suicide.&rdquo;
Adityanath outlined the government's commitment to economic growth, citing initiatives such as &ldquo;One District, One Product&rdquo; and increased infrastructure development, particularly in expressways, metro systems, and airports.

The Congress on Wednesday claimed the CBI's searches at the residence of former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel were politically motivated, and asserted it will not be intimidated by such actions.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday conducted searches at the residence of Congress leader Baghel in connection with the alleged Rs 6,000 crore Mahadev app scam, officials said.
The agency teams swooped down at Baghel's residences in Raipur and Bhilai, as well as the houses of a senior police officer and a close associate of the former CM, they said.
The searches also covered the premises of Congress MLA Devendra Yadav in Bhilai town of Durg district and of IPS officers Anand Chhabra, Abhishek Pallava and Arif Sheikh, among others, sources said.
Baghel said the CBI conducted searches at his residence ahead of his scheduled visit to New Delhi for a Congress meeting.
Reacting to the action, Baghel's office in a post on X said, "Now CBI has arrived. Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is scheduled to go to Delhi today for the meeting of the "Drafting Committee" constituted for the AICC meeting to be held in Ahmedabad (Gujarat) on April 8 and 9."
"Before that, CBI has reached Raipur and Bhilai residences," it added.
State Congress chief Deepak Baij in a post on X claimed the BJP sent the CBI after Baghel and Yadav following all the "failed raids and failed conspiracies".
"Since this morning, the CBI has been camping at the houses of both our leaders, this is nothing but the government's desperation," he charged.
"But remember one thing - neither Congress will bow down, nor Congress will stop. This fight is not just about the leaders, but about every truth which is being tried to be crushed by the power. BJP should remember - truth does not bow down, and the end of injustice is certain," he added.
Senior Congress leader and former state Deputy CM TS Singh Deo also condemned the action and claimed the central agencies have been trying to harass Baghel.
"The attempt by the agencies to harass former CM Bhupesh Baghel ji repeatedly is condemnable. It is only the BJP's failed attempt to tarnish Bhupesh ji's image. The state BJP government is incapable of running the government, therefore it has been making such efforts to divert attention from the issues related to the public," Singh Deo alleged in a post on X.
First the ED, then CBI, the investigating agencies have been acting as the 'B' team of the BJP, he claimed.
"It has become clear that the central agency has only become a weapon to threaten and harass opposition leaders. This action being taken by BJP out of political malice is a violation of democracy," he added.
State Congress communication wing head Sushil Anand Shukla slammed the BJP over the action and claimed the ruling party was scared of Baghel.
"Ever since Baghel has become the party in-charge of Punjab, the BJP is scared. First, the Enforcement Directorate was sent to his residence and now, the CBI has been sent. This shows the BJP's fear. When the BJP fails to fight politically, it uses central agencies against its opponents," he alleged.
"Neither Bhupesh Baghel nor the Congress party is scared," Shukla said.
The people of the country and the state are well aware of these "oppressive" policies of the BJP, he said.
Earlier also, the CBI had lodged a case against Baghel in connection with an alleged seven-year-old (sleaze) CD matter, but the court recently discharged him of all charges, Shukla added.
Recently, the Enforcement Directorate had conducted searches at Baghel's residence in connection with an alleged liquor scam case.
The state government last year handed over to the CBI 70 cases related to the alleged Mahadev scam lodged with different police stations and one case registered with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in the state.
Baghel along with promoters of the Mahadev app - Ravi Uppal, Saurabh Chandrakar, Shubham Soni and Anil Kumar Agrawal and 14 others - were named as accused in the EOW's FIR.
Baghel had termed the EOW FIR "politically motivated".
Notably, the ED has been probing the Mahadev app-linked money laundering case, unearthed during the previous Congress government in the state.
The ED had conducted multiple raids in the case earlier in the state and filed prosecution complaints (chargesheets) in the case, including against the two main promoters of the alleged illegal betting and gaming app - Chandrakar and Uppal.
The ED claimed in the past that its probe in the Mahadev online gaming and betting app has shown involvement of various high-ranking politicians and bureaucrats from Chhattisgarh, the state where the two main promoters, Chandrakar and Uppal, of the app hail from.
It had said the app is an umbrella syndicate arranging online platforms for enabling illegal betting websites to enrol new users, create user IDs and laundering of money through a layered web of 'benami' bank accounts.
The two main promoters of the app are stated to have been detained in Dubai on the basis of an ED-requested Interpol red notice. The projected proceeds of crime in this case are about Rs 6,000 crore, according to the ED.
