Aviation minister has issued 5 additional SOPs including setting up of war rooms and deploying additional CISF personnel to assist passengers amidst flight disruptions

Civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia tightens SOPs amidst flight disruptions at Delhi airport

Civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has further tightened the Standard Operating Procedures amidst the fog-induced flight disruptions at Delhi airport. In a post on X Scindia has listed 5 additional measures.

Measures Taken

The additional measures include setting up of war rooms by airlines and airports in 6 metro cities to address the inconvenience faced by passengers. Sufficient CISF personnel will also be deployed for round-the clock assistance. The aviation ministry has also sought incidence of disruption that happens thrice daily from 6 metro cities.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in a post in X said that the implementation of the Directives, SOPs and CARs will be monitored and reported regularly. In an earlier post, he had requested passengers to be patient and warned against unruly behaviours.

The Delhi airport has operationalised the CAT III-enabled runway like instructed in yesterday's SOP. Over the past two days, flights had been delayed, disrupted due to fog. Passengers have been stranded in the airports while some flights are re-directed. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has assured that measures are being taken to avoid such situations in the future.
