BJP's Abhijit Das Bobby to contest against Mamata's nephew Abhishek Banerjee

BJP on April 16 released the 12th list for the Lok Sabha polls. In the list, it was mentioned that Abhijit Das Bobby will contest from Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency against Bobby West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee.

Who is Abhijit Das Bobby?

Abhijit Das is a RSS worker and former South 24 Pargana district BJP president. Diamond Harbour has been the stronghold of Abhishek Banerjee since 2014.

In 2014, Lok Sabha elections, Abhishek Banerjee was elected from the seat after winning 40.31 per cent of the votes, while Abhijit Das came third after securing 15.92 per cent of the votes. In second place was CPI(M)s Dr. Abul Hasnat, who garnered 34.66 per cent of the ballots.

Moreover, the BJP has fielded former Maharashtra minister Udayanraje Bhosale from the Satara seat in Maharashtra and Thakur Vishwadeep Singh from Firozabad.
