Union minister G Kishan Reddy seeks second term from Secunderabad, here's all about him

G. Kishan Reddy, MP from Secunderabad Constituency, is seeking his second term from this seat in the Lok Sabha polls. He's been holding key portfolios like MoS for Home Affairs and Union Minister For Culture, Tourism, and Development of North Eastern Region in Narendra Modi's government since July 2021. Reddy, born on July 15, 1960, in Hyderabad, Telangana, has been a prominent name in the BJP, holding important roles in state and central governments.

He started his political career quite early in 1977, getting involved with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), which laid the groundwork for his political career.

A big moment for Reddy was winning a seat in the Legislative Assembly in Andhra Pradesh in 1994. He kept being an MLA for several terms, representing Amberpet in Hyderabad.

In 2014, he became an MP in the Lok Sabha from the Secunderabad constituency. He won again in 2019, becoming a key figure for the BJP in the state. Now, he is seeking a second term in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections from Secunderabad.

Secunderabad, a twin city of Hyderabad, has been a Congress stronghold historically. But in 2019, things changed, and BJP won by a huge margin. In the upcoming 2024 elections, it's expected to be a tough contest between Reddy from BJP, Danam Nagender from Congress, and T. Padma Rao Goud from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

The voting in Secunderabad will take place on May 13, in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections.
