Aditya Roy Kapur opens up on facing body objectification; says it is ‘part of working in visual medium’

Actor Aditya Roy Kapur, who worked as a VJ on Channel V before signing films, recalled being objectified during the early days of his career. In a recent interaction with Film Companion, the actor opined body objectification is a part of working in a visual medium.

While sharing his personal experience, Aditya remembered shooting a shirtless promo as a part of his introduction to his first job.

‘I started off as a VJ with Channel V and I was well into being objectified. My first promo introducing VJ Aditya was me taking my shirt off at Agonda Beach in Goa. So that has been happening since the start of my career,’ he said.

Aditya Roy Kapur believes, ‘It’s a part of it. It’s a visual medium and if one can tick that box then it’s a good thing.’

The star also said that maintaining a chiselled physique hasn’t taken a toll on him so far.

Aditya has faced multiple commercial setbacks early on in his professional journey, but he believes it is those years of struggle that keep him focused to push through.

Talking about how he dealt with his career downturn, the actor emphasized he kept negative thoughts at bay to feel less impacted by the outcome.
