Vicky Kaushal romantic-comedy has received a good start at the ticket counters, becoming his biggest opener at the box office. 

'Bad Newz' box office Day 1: Vicky Kaushal starrer has a strong start, promises even better weekend

Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk starrer 'Bad Newz' had a good opening at the box office. On Day 1, the film, helmed by Anand Tiwari, managed to earn Rs 8.5 crore (early estimates), as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk. The film has been produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Amritpal Singh Bindra.

'Bad Newz' box office collection Day 1

The Vicky Kaushal starrer saw 22.83 per cent Hindi occupancy, with the maximum footfall coming from the night shows. With the weekend ahead, the film is expected to pick pace at the ticket window. With not much competition from other films, the weekend collection for the romantic comedy is expected to be in the double digits.

'Good Newwz' for Vicky Kaushal

Vicky Kaushal achieved its biggest opener with 'Bad Newz'. Previously, his biggest opener was with the 2019 military drama 'Uri – The Surgical Strike', which earned Rs 8.20 crore on its first day. The film was a sleeper hit and went on to mint over Rs 200 crore at the box office.

About ‘Bad Newz’

‘Bad Newz’ revolves around a woman (Dimri) who is carrying twins, but with different fathers, played by Kaushal and Virk. Vicky has become an internet sensation with 'Tauba Tauba', a post-credit number that's being constantly recreated in reels. Kaushal's dancing in the song has been praised by industry seniors like Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan.
