Diljit Dosanjh feels he wasn't a 'deserving candidate' to perform at Coachella: 'It was a huge deal'

Diljit Dosanjh proved his stardom is global with his Coachella fanfare. However, the singer believes he wasn't a ‘deserving candidate’ at the coveted event. In a recent interview, Diljit said that he feels he isn't a great musician but somehow managed to grab good opportunities. He added that while he never dreamt of performing at Coachella, it was certainly on his checklist.

'It was a huge deal'

A year after taking the music sphere by storm with his Coachella gig, Diljit Dosanjh is opening up about his much-talked-about performance at the global event. Speaking on The Ranveer Show, Diljit said, "Although I wasn't a deserving candidate. I feel so. It was God's will. I knew it (Coachella) was big and for the first time, someone from India was going to perform there. It was a huge deal. I feel like I'm not that great a musician, but I end up getting good opportunities."

Diljit, who is known for his roles in successful films like 'Good Newwz,' and 'Honsla Rakh', added that he hasn't learnt acting from anywhere." I had never imagined I'd do a film with Imtiaz Ali. Maybe it happened because of Chamkila. He gave me that chance. Imtiaz Ali signing Diljit Dosanjh isn't necessary. There are so many others whom he can hire,” the 'Lover' crooner stated.

Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming films

Diljit will play the titular role in Imtiaz Ali's film 'Amar Singh Chamkila,' co-starring Parineeti Chopra. The biographical drama is slated to be released on April 12 on Netflix. Recently, producer Boney Kapoor also revealed that Diljit Will be part of 'No Entry' 2, a sequel to the 2005 hit comedy, along with Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor.
