'Dobaaraa' box office collection on Day 1: Taapsee Pannu's film opens low with ₹72 lakhs

'Dobaaraa', starring Taapsee Pannu, released in theatres this Friday and the Anurag Kashyap directorial is off to a slow start. Recently, in an interview the actor and director had jokingly asked netizens to boycott their movie and make it trend on social media. This statement was made after Aamir Khan starrer 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and Akshay Kumar starrer 'Raksha Bandhan' faced boycott calls. However, looks like the audience took their request quite seriously and didn’t turn up on the opening day of the film. #BoycottDobaaraa was already trending on Twitter.

According to reports, the occupancy in theatres has been only 2-3 percent which is way below expectations.

As per film trade analyst Sumit Kadel, ‘#Dobaaraa is off to a DISASTROUS start at the box office, film is registering merely 2-3% occupancy while many early shows are getting canceled due to NO AUDIENCE..(sic).’

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported that the film's numbers are better than Taapsee's previous film 'Shabaash Mithu'.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Taapsee had said, ‘I feel out of place when even biggies are being boycotted. Who wouldn't want to be in the league of Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar? Please boycott us too. Don't leave us.’

'Dobaaraa' is a Hindi adaptation of Spanish film 'Mirage' which featured Alvaro Morte, the popular character Professor from Netflix’s 'Money Heist'.
