Actor Kangana Ranaut has reportedly sought permission to shoot for her upcoming film 'Emergency' inside Parliament. She has written a letter to the Lok Sabha Secretariat, and her request is under consideration, said a report by news agency PTI citing sources. However, the report added that the actor-director is unlikely that to be granted permission.

Sources told PTI that state broadcaster Doordarshan and Sansad TV are generally permitted to shoot programmes or events inside Parliament, but there is no precedent of permission being given to a private party for shooting inside Parliament for private work.

‘Emergency’ is written, directed and produced by Kangana Ranaut. The shooting for the film commenced earlier this year.

Kangana will be portraying the role of former prime minister Indira Gandhi, who had imposed the Emergency across the country in 1975 -from June 25 to March 21. During the 21 months, the fundamental rights of the people were put under strict curbs.

‘Emergency’ also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry and Milind Soman in pivotal roles.
