BCCI secretary Jay Shah took to Twitter and shared the historic news that women cricketers will be paid equally as the men cricketers of the country. Hours after this news, Shah Rukh Khan and many other celebrities lauded the BCCI’s decision.

SRK, who owns multiple cricket teams including the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, called sports a ‘great equaliser’ and hoped the decision will inspire other boards to do the same.

Anushka Sharma and Taapsee Pannu also took to social media to welcome Board of Control for Cricket in India's verdict to end discrimination. Taapsee tweeted that it is a huge step towards equal pay for equal work. She thanked BCCI for leading with example.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Anushka shared a screenshot of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah's tweet and added three clapping emojis.

Anushka and Taapsee have played female cricketers on screen. Taapsee was seen in ‘Shabash Mithu’, biopic of former Indian captain Mithali Raj, while Anushka will be seen in ‘Chakda Xpress’, the biopic of fast bowler Jhulan Goswami.

On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan has three releases in 2023 - Siddharth Anand’s ‘Pathaan’ with Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, Atlee’s ‘Jawan’ and Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’.

Anushka Sharma will be making a comeback to the big screen with ‘Chakda ‘Xpress’.

Taapsee will next be seen alongside SRK in ‘Dunki’.
