Is Kabir Khan making ‘Babbar Sher’ with Salman Khan? Filmmaker clarifies

Filmmaker Kabir Khan and actor Salman Khan made headlines when reports of their fourth collaboration surfaced online. Speculations hinted towards a project titled 'Babbar Sher,' claiming that initial discussions started in late 2023.

It was reported that Kabir Khan will begin filming the next venture after the release of 'Chandu Champion.' Described as one of Kabir's most ambitious projects, Salman was reportedly his top choice for the lead role.

However, Kabir Khan has now clarified these speculations, dismissing them as a market strategy. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, he stated, 'There’s no Babbar Sher right now,' setting the record straight on their rumoured collaboration.

Fans had expressed hopes of seeing Salman reunite onscreen with Katrina Kaif, but Kabir Khan said, 'Katrina is somebody I’ve collaborated with on many films. I would love to work with her again. But it’s all about the script and creating material that’s good enough for me to take to her. Only if I’m excited about it will she be excited about it. Whenever that happens, I would love to reunite with her. There’s absolutely no doubt that if there’s suitable material, we’ll surely work again.'

Kabir Khan and Salman Khan collaborated on films like 'Ek Tha Tiger,' 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan,' and 'Tubelight.'

Kabir Khan is enjoying the attention after success of his latest film, 'Chandu Champion,' which continues to draw the audience to theatres. He praised Kartik Aaryan's portrayal in the film, highlighting the actor's commitment on portraying the role. The director adds that he sees Kartik becoming one of the most highly sought-after actors in the near future.

'Sometimes you may have a daunting character and you wonder as a director if the actor will be able to give it his all. But when you see this film, you’ll realise that his honesty comes across strongly. As a director, that’s what we’re looking for. We’re looking for an actor who’s ready to go that extra mile for the character,' the director says.

Kabir Khan is known for directing popular films like 'New York' and 'Phantom.'

Reflecting on his own work, which includes directing the hit film '83,' when questioned about his favourite film, he adds that 'It’s too early to say (laughs). There are so many films I’ve done… At this point, Chandu Champion is a film I’m very proud of. ‘Favourite’ is a very difficult term. It’s like picking one child out of so many children and that’s unfair. It’s a film that’s making me overwhelmed because of all the love I’m getting. In a few years from now, if I look back, it may be my favourite film.'
