Kapil Sharma-Nandita Das’s ‘Zwigato’ to premiere at International Film Festival of Kerala

‘Zwigato’, directed by Nandita Das and starring Kapil Sharma, will be premiered in India at the 27th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), the makers informed on Thursday. The film has been a part of international cinema events such as the Toronto International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival. The film has been chosen as the opening film in the Kaleidoscope section of the festival on December 10 and it will again be screened on 13th December.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Kapil Sharma wrote ‘Hello friends our film #zwigato is selected as the opening film in the International Film Festival of Kerala’s Kaleidoscope section, the film will be screened on the 10th and 13th of December. Need your love n blessings.’

'Zwigato' features Kapil Sharma as a former floor manager at a factory but due to the pandemic he loses his job and opts to work as a food delivery person exploring the world of ratings and algorithms. Shahana Goswami plays his wife, a homemaker, who starts working to support his income. Set in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the film is about ordinary people and the struggles they go through in their daily lives.

Earlier, Nandita in an interview revealed the reason for choosing comedian Kapil Sharma as the lead role. She said, ‘The film attempts to make visible what’s hidden in plain sight. And for this, the cast and crew has serendipitously come together. One day, Kapil Sharma popped up on my screen! I hadn’t seen his show, but I could see him wholly representing the ‘common man’, despite not being one anymore.’

The 27th International Film Festival of Kerala will take place from December 9th to 16th in Trivandrum, Kerala.
