Kartik Aaryan asks why people do not talk about South films that did not work

‘It’s all about good films working. It’s an Indian film which works or does not work. This discussion has been going on for a long time and now the lines have become blurred,’ Kartik told Koimoi.

Kartik Aaryan asks why people do not talk about South films that did not work

Actor Kartik Aaryan delivered one of the biggest blockbusters of 2022 with ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ which reportedly did a business of over Rs 180 crore at the box office. Recently, during the promotion of his forthcoming film ‘Freddy’, Kartik talked about his film’s success and also voiced his opinion on the North vs South debate.

Speaking with Koimoi, Kartik said that more than being about North vs South, the discussion should be about good films working at the theatres. He said one cannot say that south films work better just because ‘four films’ manage to earn big amounts at the ticket booth.

‘It’s all about good films working. It’s an Indian film which works or does not work. This discussion has been going on for a long time and now the lines have become blurred. Drishyam 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 did great numbers,’ he said.

He added, ‘They do not talk about the films that do not work, but in this North vs South, they highlight only those that worked. Chaar filmein hongi jo chali hongi actual mein.. (there must be only four films that would have worked), but they highlight as if it’s a race going on.’

Some of the Biggest blockbusters of 2022 include SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’, Yash’s ‘KGF: Chapter 2’, ‘Kantara’, Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’, ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, ‘Brahmastra’, ‘Drishyam 2’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’.

Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Freddy’, co-starring Alaya F, releases on December 2 on Disney + Hotstar. He also has ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ and ‘Shehzada’ in the pipeline.
