Film producer Vipul Shah, actor Adah Sharma and other stars of the controversial film ‘The Kerala Story’ met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in Mumbai on Thursday. During his conversation with Gadkari, Vipul Shah mentioned that he knew that no studio would back the film fearing that it will face a ban and will backlash from Muslims. He said that he did everything on their own including distribution.

Taking to Twitter, Gadkari shared pictures with film producers Vipul Shah, Aashin Shah and actors Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, and Sonia Balani. The team can be seen having a discussion with Nitin Gadkari and also posing with him for a group photo.

Sudipto Sen’s ‘The Kerala Story’ has been embroiled in controversy for a long time over its storyline. The film’s trailer claimed that 32,000 women from Kerala were brainwashed to join the terrorist group ISIS. This sparked a political debate and many leaders questioned the claim.

On May 18, the Supreme Court stayed the ban imposed by the West Bengal government on the film ‘The Kerala Story’. SC also asked the film makers to give a proper disclaimer regarding the unsubstantiated figure ‘32,000’ mentioned in the film.
