'Open Book: Not Quite A Memoir:' Kubbra Sait reveals she was sexually abused by a family friend

Kubbra Sait, in her memoir, titled 'Open Book: Not Quite A Memoir,' has opened up about how she was sexually abused by a family friend. As per Times Of India report, the 'Sacred Games' actor in an excerpt from the book, mentioned how she put up with the molestation in her teens in order to protect family from financial woes.

She wrote that the man, who helped lift the financial burden off her family's shoulders, would visit them frequently and kiss her in front of her mother, saying 'Kubrati' was his 'favourite little one.'

'Although uncomfortable, I kept quiet, because I found some relief that things were calm at home,' she wrote.

Recalling her first sexual assault incident, Kubbra said she was 'shocked and confused, but couldn't utter a word.'

'I should have run for help, but I was shell-shocked. The kiss grew. He convinced me it was what I wanted, that it would make me feel better... I was unsure of what exactly was happening, but I remember thinking, I am losing my virginity. It was a big deal, but it was also my shameful secret,' Kubbra wrote.

The actor said the man 'grew like a virus' in her home. He was married a had a child. He went on to welcome another child during the two and half years that he sexually abused her. She further added that when given a chance to move to Dubai, she agreed so that she could stay away from the man.

Kubbra shared this ordeal with her mother years later while driving from Mumbai to Pune and an apology came from her recently.

'I think I seized the opportunity only because I felt she couldn’t run away from the conversation,' Kubbra wrote.
