Hours after Delhi Police arrested the main accused behind the deepfake video of actor Rashmika Mandanna, the actor took to her X account to express her gratitude. The ‘Animal’ actor thanked the Delhi Police for arresting the culprit and said, “Feeling truly grateful for the community that embraces me with love, support and shields me.” Raising awareness on the misuse of photographs, she further added, “Girls and boys- if your image is used or morphed anywhere without your consent, it is wrong! And I hope this is a reminder that you are surrounded by people who will support you and action will be taken!”

The Delhi Police arrested the main accused of Mandanna’s deepfake video case from Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. According to news agency ANI, the main accused is a 24-year-old youth named Eemani Naveen, who is responsible for creating and posting deepfake videos of actor on the social media. He is reportedly a resident of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh and is a B-tech graduate from a reputed engineering college in Chennai.

A deepfake video of actor Rashmika Mandanna had gone viral in November 2023, creating nationwide headlines and raising concerns over the misuse of Artificial Intelligence. In the viral video, British-Indian citizen Zara Patel’s face was replaced with Rashmika’s. The actor had expressed shock when the video went viral, prompting reactions from several of her colleagues from the film fraternity.

Actor Rashmika Mandanna was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Animal’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor. She is now gearing up for her next film ‘Pushpa 2’ which will be released on this Independence Day.
