‘Sam Bahadur’: Vicky Kaushal’s portrayal of war hero Sam Manekshaw leaves fans impressed | Watch

The teaser of Meghna Gulzar’s much-awaited film ‘Sam Bahadur’ has been released and Vicky Kaushal’s gripping performance has already won our hearts.

The teaser shows India’s first field marshal Sam Manekshaw’s dedication to fight for the nation. It shows how he was ready to give everything for his country but wasn’t interested in the politics that came with it.

He says in the teaser, ‘Mujhe politics mein koi interest nahi hai (I have no interest in politics),’ making it clear that serving in a war comes with its political baggage.

‘Sam Bahadur’ will also show the 1971 war where he led from the front and which ended with the creation of Bangladesh.

Fatima Sana Shaikh, who stars as Indira Gandhi in the film, tells him that it is the duty of a soldier to sacrifice his life for his country. He corrects her and says ‘Soldiers ki duty hai desh ki raksha ke liye dushman ki jaan lena (It is the duty of a soldier to kill anyone who comes in the way of their country’s safety).’

Vicky Kaushal and Meghna Gulzar have collaborated again after the 2018 movie ‘Raazi’.

‘Sam Bahadur’ also stars Sanya Malhotra as his wife Siloo. Neeraj Kabi and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub also star in the film as Jawaharlal Nehru and Yahya Khan.

‘Sam Bahadur’ is scheduled to be released in theatres on December 1, 2023.

Who was Sam Manekshaw?

Sam Manekshaw was the first Indian Army officer to have been promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. He is credited for India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, which led to the creation of Bangladesh. He was the Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army during the 1971 India-Pakistan war and was promoted to Field Marshal by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi after the war.

Sam Manekshaw passed away at the age of 94 in 2008.
