'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari': Janhvi Kapoor to star opposite Varun Dhawan in Shashank Khaitan's next

Varun Dhawan is set to reunite with his 'Bawaal' co-star Janhvi Kapoor for the upcoming film, titled 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari'. Touted as the third installment in the Dulhania franchise, 'SSKTK' see Varun reunite with Shashank Khaitan after the commercial success of 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' (2014) and 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' (2017). Meanwhile, Janhvi debuted with Khaitan-directed 'Dhadak' (2018).

'Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari' announcement

The makers dropped an official announcement on Thursday revealing the lead cast of the film. Bankrolled by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, the film is slated to release in theatres on April 18, 2025. Along with the video, the makers also dropped an announcement that read, "Your Sanskari is on his way to get his (Tulsi emoji) Kumari! This love story wrapped with entertainment is coming to the big screens!"

Did Janhvi replace Alia?

Alia Bhatt had featured in both the previous instalments of the Dulhania franchise. Now, with Janhvi being roped in, rumours are rife that the makers have replaced Alia Bhatt. However, Karan Johar had earlier reacted to the claim, asking the media 'to not conjecture about' the upcoming film.

Taking to Instagram stories, Karan wrote, “Every morning I wake up to the news that is not an official confirmation by Dharma Productions… would request members of the media to please not conjecture about the continuance of a franchise or the beginning of one! We will give details when the time and plans are formulated and fructified! We are humbled by the excitement shown by our future films but would love to have accuracy instead of speculation… Respectfully, Karan Johar.”
