Sushant Singh Rajput birth anniversary: All you need to know about his journey

Sushant Singh Rajput managed to win a huge fan following in a short yet noteworthy career. He is best remembered for his work in the then-popular show ‘Pavitra Rishta’, in which he played the role of Manav Deshmukh.
Sushant was associated with the show from 2009 to 2011. Following this, he bagged a key role in Abhishek Kapoor`s ‘Kai Po Che!’ in 2013. His performance in the film earned him a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Debut.
Over the years, Sushant Singh Rajput went on to appear in several movies.
Here’s a quick look at how he started his career.
Before venturing into acting, Patna-born Sushant enrolled for Mechanical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) after scoring an All-India Rank of 7 in its entrance examination in 2003. He dropped out of college in the third year of college to pursue his dreams.
Sushant had enrolled himself in Shiamak Davar’s classes during his days at the DCE and he soon joined the choreographer and became a background dancer for his troupe.
Did you know, he featured in the song ‘Dhoom Again’ from ‘Dhoom 2’. He was also a part of Aishwarya Rai’s act at 2006 Commonwealth Games closing ceremony, apart from performing at IIFA in 2005.
Sushant then joined Barry John’s acting classes. A casting director for Balaji Telefilms saw him performing a stage play for ‘Ekjute’ and in 2008, he was offered his first on-screen role in the show ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil’.
He then featured in the popular daily soap ‘Pavitra Rishta’ and also participated in a few dance reality shows such as 'Zara Nachke Dikha 2' and 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4'.
This serial gave him a big break in the industry and made a way for him towards Bollywood.
After his debut with ‘Kai Po Che!’, he was seen in films like 'Shuddh Desi Romance', 'PK' and 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!'.
The biopic of former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni named ‘MS Dhoni- The Untold Story’ that released in 2016, made him the star of Bollywood.
His other films include 'Raabta', 'Kedarnath', ‘Sonchiriya’ and ‘Chhichhore’.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai home on June 14, 2020.
