'The Archies': Zoya Akhtar commences shoot; Amitabh Bachchan wishes Agastya Nanda

The world-famous Archie Comics is now all set to get a desi makeover, courtesy Zoya Akhtar. The filmmaker is directing the comic’s film adaptation titled 'The Archies'. Taking to Instagram, the 'Gully Boy' director shared a photo of the clapboard along with project details.

The film is produced by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti with Nikos Andritsakis as the Director of Photography. Zoya Akhtar captioned the post stating, ‘Back to The Future’ along with the hashtags ‘The Archies’ and ‘supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’. Reema Kagti also shared a similar post on her social media account, with the caption “Archie's shoot starts Tiger Baby's first solo production. Partner in crime, Zoya Akhtar.”

Celebs including Navya Nanda, Dia Mirza, Shibani Dandekar, Abhishek Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan, and others dropped heartfelt wishes in the comments section.

The icing on the cake was in the form of Bollywood’s legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan who took to social media to express his pride over his grandson Agastya Nanda making his acting debut with ‘The Archies’. Big B wrote, “Agastya... A new chapter begins in your life and there cannot be greater joy among us all. My blessings my love and my wishes ever .. Do well .. and keep the flag flying.”

According to the reports, Suhana Khan and Khushi Kapoor have been roped in to play Veronica Lodge and Betty Cooper respectively. On the other hand, Agastya Nanda will be reportedly essaying the role of Archie Andrews.
