‘Trial By Fire’ trailer: Abhay Deol, Rajshri Deshpande starrer series on Uphaar cinema fire tragedy out

Streaming giant Netflix has released the trailer of its latest series, ‘Trial by Fire’, based on the Uphaar Cinema fire. The trailer highlights how the the blaze that killed 59 people and left over 100 injured changed the lives of some families and their 25-year-long battle for justice.

Abhay Deol and Rajshri Deshpande portray the role of Shekhar and Neelam Krishnamoorthy, the couple who lost both their kids in the fire.

Taking to Instagram, Abhay shared the trailer and wrote, ‘The trailer is here! 13 June, 1997 altered the lives of hundreds of families. #TrialByFire traces the story of parents, Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy, who alongside other families have fought for justice. Catch their story in #TrialByFire, releasing January 13 only on @netflix_in.’

The series is directed by Prashant Nair and produced by Endemol Shine India and House of Talkies. ‘Trial by Fire’ also features Rajesh Tailang, Ashish Vidyarthi, Anupam Kherr, Ratna Pathak, Shilpa Shukla and Shardul Bharadwaj.

Based on the book ‘Trial by Fire: The Tragic Tale of the Uphaar Fire Tragedy’ written by Shekhar and Neelam Krishnamoorthy, the series is all set to stream on Netflix from January 13.

The Uphaar Cinema fire tragedy took place in Delhi's Green Park on June 13, 1997 during the matinee show of the film ‘Border’.
