Vidya Balan gets candid about nepotism: 'The industry doesn't belong to anyone's father'

Vidya Balan is currently awaiting the release of her upcoming film, 'Do Aur Do Pyaar'. Touted as a romantic comedy, the intriguing trailer for the film has set the anticipation high with its unconventional characters. Vidya, one of the most talented actors in Bollywood, is known for carving a niche despite being an outsider in the Hindi film industry. Now, Vidya has shared her opinion on nepotism in Bollywood and its impact on an artist's career.

'Kisi ki baap ki industry nahin hai'

Vidya opened up on the topic of nepotism and how it affected her. She opined, “Nepotism or no nepotism, I am here. Kisi ki baap ki industry nahi hai, nahi toh har baap ka beta, har baap ki beti successful hote (The film industry does not belong to anyone's father; otherwise, every star kid would be successful).”

The actor further added, “I have been happy doing my own thing." There were times when I felt like, ‘Maybe if I had the protection of certain people, people would have been a bit kinder in those phases.’ But in terms of opportunities, I don’t think anybody has been able to deny me my share.”

Vidya Balan's upcoming projects

Vidya will next feature in 'Do Aur Do Pyaar'. Directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta, the film also stars Ilena D'Cruz, Pratik Gandhi, and Sendhil Ramamurthy. The film is her first release in 2024. She was last seen in the 2023 film 'Neeyat,' which turned out to be a huge box-office disappointment. She will also be seen in Anees Bazmee's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, starring Kartik Aaryan and Tripti Dimri in pivotal roles.
