‘Yodha’ day 1 collection: Sidharth Malhotra starrer fails to meet box office expectations

Sidharth Malhotra's action thriller ‘Yodha’ witnessed a slow start at box office on its opening day.

‘Yodha’ day 1 collection: Sidharth Malhotra starrer fails to meet box office expectations

Backed by Dharma Productions, Sidharth Malhotra starrer ‘Yodha’ failed to meet the expectations as far as box office collection is concerned. The film witnessed a slow start on day 1 as it earned only ₹ 4.50 crore at box office.

‘Yodha’ facing tough competition from 'Shaitaan'

‘Yodha’ saw an overall occupancy of 13.86 per cent on Friday. While it beat ‘Bastar: The Naxal Story’ which was released on the same day, ‘Yodha’ is facing a tough fight from Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan starrer ‘Shaitaan’. The horror thriller has crossed ₹ 100 crore mark worldwide and remains the first choice of audience. However, the weekend will give a clearer picture of Sidharth’s film at the box office.

Sidharth's work front

Sidharth Malhotra’s last hit film was ‘Shershaah’, which released on OTT during the lockdown. While talking about the film during a recent promotional event, Sidharth said, “We have done many variations in the film and also the action I got to perform is very different from Shershaah. Here I am more energetic, and lean, and use different sorts of weapons. It is a far more commercial and entertaining film. I think it has got my best of action sequences that I have done in last decade or so."

Sidharth was last seen in ‘Indian Police Force’, which also starred Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi. Directed and created by Rohit Shetty, the show was released on OTT.

About ‘Yodha’

The Pushkar Ojha and Sagar Ambre directorial also stars Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna in key roles. The action-thriller packed with patriotic fervour shows Sidharth on a mission to rescue passengers in a hijacked plane. The film has received mixed reviews on social media on day 1.
