The prestigious Critics Choice Awards 2024 took place in Los Angeles on January 15. The historical drama ‘Oppenheimer’ won Best Picture, while Christopher Nolan was lauded as best director at the award show.
The biggest surprise of the evening was Emma Stone's victory for Best Actress in Searchlight's ‘Poor Things,’ especially after Lily Gladstone's win at the Golden Globes the previous week for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’. On the other hand, Paul Giamatti continued his winning streak by securing the Best Actor award for Focus Features' ‘The Holdovers,’ matching his previous victory at the Globes.
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has bagged the Best Comedy and Best Song for ‘I’m Just Ken’. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has won Best Animated Film, while Anatomy of a Fall has been declared as Best Foreign Language Film.
Best Supporting Actor has been given to Robert Downey Jr for his performance in Oppenheimer, and Billy Crudup and Elizabeth Debicki won the respective Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a Drama Series categories for The Morning Show and The Crown, with the latter repeating her Globes triumph.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach of The Bear and an absent Meryl Streep of Only Murders in the Building took the supporting prizes for comedy.
Maria Bello and Jonathan Bailey earlier took Supporting Actress and Actor in a limited series or telefilm for Beef and Showtime’s Fellow Travelers, respectively.
