BTS singer Jin bid adieu to his fans on Tuesday morning as he enlisted for his mandatory military duty. He took to the fan community forum Weverse to share his message for BTS ARMY before he left for his service.

Jin, who is a gaming enthusiast, referred to a character called ‘Jhin’ from the video game ‘League of Legends’, and wrote in Korean, ‘Now it’s curtain call time. I wanted to do it when I went to the army.’

As reported by the entertainment website Soompi, BTS management agency BigHit Music, in its statement on Monday, said Jin will enter the grounds of the recruit training centre in a vehicle without greeting the media or fans separately.

They also appealed to ARMY and mediapersons to not crowd the site. The agency said there is ‘no separate waiting space for reporters’.

Jin will reportedly enter a boot camp of a front-line army division in Yeoncheon, 60 kilometres north of Seoul.

All able-bodied men in South Korea, aged 18-28, are required to serve in the military for about two years. BTS members were allowed to put off starting their military service until they turned 30. The band, which debuted in 2013, is currently on a break, and each of its members is pursuing solo projects.

BTS will reconvene around 2025 following their service commitment.
