2.14 crore voters to cast vote across for 13 Punjab Lok Sabha constituencies

CEO Sibin C highlighted that 5,28,864 voters belong to the 18-19 age group, with 3,16,670 being boys, 2,12,178 girls, and 16 classified as other voters.

      With a total number of voters reaching 2,14,21,555, the process of filing nominations for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 has commenced in Punjab. The filing will continue until May 14, excluding May 11 and 12 due to gazetted holidays.

      Scrutiny of papers is scheduled for May 15, and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is May 17. Polling across all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab is set for June 1, from 7 am to 6 pm.

      Providing further insights, Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sibin C mentioned that May 4 marked the deadline for registering new voters in Punjab.

      As per the electoral roll released on May 6, male voters number 1,12,67,019, female voters are 1,01,53,767, and other voters amount to 769.

      Forms submitted for the registration of new voters by May 4 will be decided by May 14, thereby determining the final count of voters in the state.

      CEO Sibin C highlighted that 5,28,864 voters belong to the 18-19 age group, with 3,16,670 being boys, 2,12,178 girls, and 16 classified as other voters. Additionally, 1,89,832 voters are aged above 85 years, including 88,169 men, 1,01,661 women, and two others.

      For the 13 Lok Sabha seats, a total of 24,451 polling stations will be set up, with 16,517 in villages and 7,934 in cities. Punjab boasts 100 percent photo identity cards (EPIC) coverage.
