JNU meat violence: Left Vs ABVP clash; several injured

Several students were injured in Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi after violence broke out on campus Sunday evening.

Multiple reports said that the clashes between the Left wing and ABVP students first broke out, allegedly over meat being served in the hostel canteen on the occasion of Ram Navami.

At least six students were injured in the incident that took place at Kaveri hostel.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union has alleged that the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad or ABVP members assaulted the mess secretary and stopped the staff from serving meat dishes in the hostel.

The ABVP however claimed that they were stopped from performing prayers which triggered clashes.

Visuals emerged from the campus showing a student with a bloodied forehead, another with injuries on his back, and a third with a bleeding palm. With the two groups blaming each other for violence, the Kaveri hostel warden has launched a probe into the incident.
