Madhya Pradesh minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia has written to the BJP expressing unwillingness to contest the upcoming elections in the state.

The four-time MLA, who has reportedly been infected with COVID-19 four times, cited health concerns for refusing to contest the election.

"Yashodhara Ji is our senior and respected leader, who had informed the party around three months back about her unwillingness to contest the polls, due to pressing health reasons," said MP BJP president VD Sharma, as per NDTV.

The decision has set off speculations that her nephew, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, might fight the election, making his assembly election debut in Madhya Pradesh. He might contest from his aunt's Shivpuri seat.
