'Party which vanquished Pakistan...': Shiv Sena rebel Eknath Shinde's speech to MLAs | Maharashtra crisis

With political turmoil in Maharashtra continuing, Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde referred to a "national party", calling it a "mahashakti" or great power, which "vanquished Pakistan".

Shinde was addressing the MLAs who joined him in the revolt. He reportedly said that a national party which had defeated Pakistan had called their revolt "historic" and promised "all help".

Shinde is camping at a hotel in Assam's capital Guwahati. He is reportedly accompanied by over 35 Shiv Sena MLAs, and 9 Independent legislators.

The rebel MLAs also authorised Shinde to take decisions on their behalf. The move was unanimous, as per a statement by Shinde's office.
