    Presenting the fourth budget of the Punjab Government, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced several key initiatives for the state’s overall development, with a special focus on the Water Supply and Sanitation Department.

    Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Hardip Singh Mundian expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and Finance Minister on behalf of the people and his department for prioritizing clean drinking water and improved sanitation in the 2025-26 budget. He highlighted the proposed budget allocation of ₹1,614 crore for these initiatives.

    Mundian stated that this budget will accelerate the implementation of surface water-based projects, rehabilitate old infrastructure, and strengthen rural sanitation under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin). He added that the allocation includes provisions for upgrading and installing pipeline water supply in 176 villages, ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water.
