Imagine that you're immensely hungry and rush into the kitchen for a quick snack or meal. Would you stop to see what's healthy and what isn't before digging in? Chances are that you won't, and so it's better to stock your kitchen with these food items.

Pushing for this change, dietitian Manpreet recently shared a list on Instagram about common foods and their healthy alternatives. Let's take a look.

      • Processed vegetable oil can have adverse effects on your health. So, it's better to use pressed virgin oils
      • Fruit juices contain high sugar and are low in fibre. Instead of juices, you must consume whole fruits to get maximum health benefits
      • Avoid eating packaged savoury mixtures, or 'namkeen', and replace them with poha mixture which can be prepared easily at home.
      • Always opt for fresh vegetables instead of frozen vegetables. This is because processed vegetables are likely to lose their nutrients and may have added sugar and salt.
      • Try to say a big 'no' to refined sugar as it has been linked to obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Instead, switch to healthier options like jaggery or coconut sugar.
      • Replacing refined flour with millet flour may be a healthier option as it's more nutritious, and easier to digest as well.
