Having oranges at night? 5 Fruits you should avoid after sunset and why

Fruits are a healthy and essential part of your diet. However, some fruits can be detrimental if had after sunset. Wondering what we are talking about? Consuming some fruits like citrus fruits at night is a big no as it can cause heartburn and acid reflux.

Here are 5 fruits to avoid at night and why

      Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits are acidic and can cause acidity or heartburn, especially when consumed close to bedtime. The acidity may lead to discomfort and disrupt your sleep.
Instead, have citrus fruits earlier in the day to avoid any potential digestive issues at night.

      Pineapple

Pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme known to stimulate digestion and potentially increase stomach acidity. Eating pineapple before bedtime could trigger indigestion or acid reflux, disrupting your sleep and making it uncomfortable to rest.

      Watermelon

Watermelon has a high water content and can act as a diuretic, causing frequent urination if consumed before bed. Additionally, some people may experience indigestion or bloating due to its high sugar content.

      High Sugar fruits

Fruits with high sugar content can cause a spike in blood sugar levels. This excess energy may cause problems while sleeping. Moreover, the rapid rise and fall in blood sugar levels can disrupt your sleep cycle.

      Bananas

While bananas are a nutritious choice, they are also rich in potassium and contain a moderate amount of magnesium, both of which can promote muscle relaxation. However, eating them before bed may lead to an increased urge to urinate due to their diuretic effect, disrupting your sleep.
