Are you overusing your noise-cancelling headphones? Here's how they can be harmful

Noise-cancelling headphones offer an escape from the outer world but overuse harms hearing health. It's advisable to limit the use of headphones and keep the volume moderate.

Are you overusing your noise-cancelling headphones? Here's how they can be harmful

In today's modern life, noise-cancelling headphones have become one of the most quintessential items. While they provide a peaceful escape from the outside world, overusing them might damage hearing health.

What happens if you over use noise cancelling earphones?

According to a report by The Indian Express, Dr. Sinha mentioned that prolonged use of noise-cancelling headphones can lead to problems such as hearing fatigue, headaches, disrupted awareness, and potential hearing loss. To avoid these issues, it is important to limit your listening time, monitor the volume, and maintain awareness of your surroundings. If you feel any discomfort in your hearing health visit your healthcare expert.

Side effects of overusing headphones

Hearing Loss: Excessive exposure to loud sounds can damage the delicate structures in the inner ear, leading to hearing loss over time.

Tinnitus: Prolonged exposure to loud noise from headphones can cause ringing, buzzing, or other phantom noises in the ears known as tinnitus.

Ear Pain or Discomfort: Wearing headphones for extended periods can cause discomfort or pain in the ears, especially if they are not properly fitted or if the volume is too high.

Headaches: The pressure exerted by headphones on the ears, combined with loud volumes, can lead to headaches, particularly tension headaches.

While noise-cancelling headphones undoubtedly provide advantages, like any technology, it's crucial to use them in moderation. By remaining aware of potential risks and implementing safe listening habits, you can still enjoy them without jeopardizing your hearing wellness.
