Post pregnancy diet rules that new mommies must follow

Actor Alia Bhatt joins the new mommy club as she welcomed their baby girl with her husband Ranbir Kapoor. A lot of new mommies and about-to-be mommies have congratulated them on social media.

Post-pregnancy is a crucial time and if you too are about to join the new mommy club, keep these diet tips handy recommended by experts.

  • Eat lots of seasonal fruits and vegetables in your diet. They have vitamins and minerals that help you recover soon. Fiber present in fruits and vegetables prevents constipation and gives you a healthy gut.
  • Add as much protein to your diet as possible. Protein-rich foods are important to help you recover from childbirth and keep your body strong.
  • Remember to not eat fish with high levels of mercury. It is harmful to the baby’s brain.
  • Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day. Your body needs a lot of fluid especially if you are breastfeeding your baby. Drink mostly water, milk and fresh fruit juice.
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol and drinks like hard lemonade and other malt liquor beverages. They can harm your baby’s brain and body development, if they pass to your baby through your breastmilk.
  • Limit junk food as much as possible. You can definitely relish them once in a while but replace them with healthier options.

Always consult your gynecologist for other diet suggestions and supplements that you need to take after giving birth.
